New Shop Features

Alexa rank hmmm!

Apparently you should not look at your ranking every day. Why? Because of the way Alexa moves round recording results. As other sites progress, even though yours may have too, theirs go up displacing your until the next time Alexa looks at your site. Since our site traffic was up by over 50% I doubt that we had gone down. I attribute the increase to my new Twitter tool which I will blog about tomorrow. You really need to read that one. Loads of traffic with much, MUCH less effort!

Anyway on a very happy cheery note I must report on the YapYapOK shops. Anyone with a shop will now see other items in that shop at the bottom of their advert. Take a look at this link for The Mini Book Store on YapYapOK.

There have been some other improvement such as the layout. The contact details are now to the side of the picture whilst the remaining pictures display underneath. Then the newly formated text. This means that users can see the pictures at a glance without scrolling to the bottom. The front page now displays 8 of the newest classifieds so they stay there longer! Take a peep at the YapYapOK home page

Also each displaying page will show 36 results which we feel is an optimum number. It means that you don't have to scroll through loads of pages if only a small number were displayed. The picture gallery makes it easy for the browser. By hovering the mouse over the picture a brief outline will drop down. The user will only drill in to the ad if this matches their requirements.

Whilst that may mean less traffic to your advert, it also enables a quick user friendly system for potential buyers which will draw them back time and time again. It also means that the adverts are only getting specifically targeted traffic which is after all what counts. If I need to convince you just check out other classifieds and scroll through heir systems. they really do not encourage you to go back. I would go as far to say that you would only use these if you felt that there was no alternative.

Our YapYapOK YOUTUBE vid is getting a few hits, OK its not great but budgets are tight, and its not as if you look for commercials on YouTube. Hence we called it by the song and not the website!

I still feel sure that Dire Straits would have encouraged viewings. C'mom Mark!

How to get your hit rate up using Twitter

Actually its not hard. Anything that says money with a link attached is clearly going to have success. I think that sex works just as well. The problem comes in trying to tally the title to the content, ie making it relevent.

For YapYapOK the UKs newest free classified, this is not difficult. It makes sense for us to have information forums due to the number of selling catagories that we have. If we are to have sellers of books, films, games etc, then it makes sense to encourage interaction from anyone who has experience of the products out there. This is why we have a review forum. In many ways it is helpful not only to the customer but also to the seller who can opt to trade in well reviewed stock. So how is "money" relevent to the forum?

Our forum is all about information. We have a forum about recipes, products, gardening and also about investment. We also have a business category on our classifieds so it makes sense to tally this with a business/investment thread. Fortunately I can list amongst my freinds Gerald Morse. Gerald aka Investor Morse has an instinct for the stock exchange. He has been trained at the highest level and worked for some of the top blue chip companies in the world. Some clients rank as the most high profile on the planet, and OMG does he have some stories. I digress, but he has agreed, in the return for some home cooking, to publish regular money making tips on the new Investment forum. Hence the massive hit rate by Twitter!

Gerald has been known as many things, it was the publication "Private Eye" which came up with the pseudonym Investor Morse. Prior to this he was known as Gold Finger to those in the trade. He is now contactable via the YapYapOK classified website. Should you be interested in becoming either a client or learning some of the tricks of the trade then contact him via this link Investor Morse on YapYapOK

My next task is to create a relevant link for sex. Now that's gonna take a lot of lateral thinking to make this one appropriate!
