SEO update

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 225k Alexa Google page 1

SEO update - really dependent on link building just now.  We have Page 1 google status ( both .com and UK)  for Free UK Classifieds.  Google UK still has on on Page 1 for Free Classifieds and we are on Page 5 of .com for Free Classifieds.  This is mainly due to linking anchor texts in articles and high PR sites.  I have also redoubled my efforts on Scribd with recipes from the YapYapOK Free Classifieds forum.  Scribd is an excellent way of anchoring text links to websites with content since there is no limit to the number of links that can be put in.  If you fear spamming then simply use the private upload.  The links are there and live but are not read and therefore cannot be reported.

If I have something of value to publish, ie recipes, then I tend to create public articles.  Anything a bit spammy goes into private documents.  Today I will be publishing a public and several private document. Since I am incredibly lazy - and it is Sunday I will use articles that I have had spun and simply download those.  This is an excellent way of creating many inbound links with very little work.

The result of all this SEO has created some demand on our server which is in need of some house keeping just now.  We are on it, so bear with us if it drops, remember its because we have more visitors and the ads are getting lots of visibility.

Ripe for Cooking

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 225k Alexa Google page 1

Having been totally distracted by Pioneer Womans blog, I became inspired to add a couple more recipes to my YapYapOK Free Classifieds  Scribd pages.

My first was a quiche.  I love quiche, but a couple of quiche disasters means that I was a little unsure about the number of eggs that I put in as well as the dish I used.  Pioneer woman uses 7 eggs.  Other recipes call for a less generous 2.  I settled for 5, changed the quantity of fluids and then fanny'ed around with the ingredients.  Its not a hard and fast rule for the filling, whatever you fancy.

Yesterday I made meatballs.  I love making meatballs when I really fancy fannying in the kitchen.  Again I change the ingredients depending on what I have in the cupboards.  These were outstanding and worth the extra time of roasting the veggies for the sauce.  Check out the meatball recipe here.

I made another chocolate sheet cake courtesy of Pioneer Woman - although I do change the ingredients a little.  Budgets, arteries as well as diabetes in the family means that I cannot use that much butter or that quantity of sugar in the topping.  I shall publish my recipe on the Free Classifieds forum (in a day or 2) for all those that feel the same.  This is still very rich, very chocolately and I'm certain that you wont miss the extra calories.  I also halve the ingredients to fit into a 7 ich tin with a loose base.   Why?  My family is small and Id rather make this more often and have it fresh.

It's so quick and easy that I have gone from a woman who rarely bakes to making this cake several times in the last few weeks.

Today I am mainly out of the kitchen, having made meatballs for the five thousand I shall enjoy a day of uninterrupted SEO.  Except  its half term, I have a halloween costume to make and some tennis to attend.

Ooh and if your wondering about the title today, I bought a t shirt with this on and got called naive by my husband!

Traffic

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 227k Page 1 Google

Traffic has increased to the point that rebooting the YapYapOK Free Classifieds dedicated server has been taking place every 3 days.  We now have to address the server issue to see what's necessary to enable large amount of traffic with minimum down time.

Fortunately this has coincided with more SEO so whilst we are still on page 1 Google UK for keywords we have dropped back on Google.com so traffic is limited to those who know us or UK only.  Had we also been on the front of Google.com then we would have "suffered" an even larger server overload with more down time.

Matrica has come out of Fiverr to offer a one to one service which we are experimenting with.  I will report back on the SERP improvements and should anyone require these SEO services then I can point you in the right direction.  First I would like to see the results.

Whilst I still report on Alexa, I no-longer take it so seriously.  One of the reasons being is that I had asked 4 people to download Alexa toolbar and keep the site on as often as possible.  This alone had a monumental impact on Alexa rankings.  Now we have real traffic, real numbers of searches & page views.  Time on site is up, site speed is down and browsing has increased.  The favours we had asked are no longer in operation, its kind of laxed & we cant keep asking.  So clearly Alexa sample was hugely skewed illustrating that it is true how web companies can have great Alexa rankings over private sites.

Inspired

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 228k Page 1 Google

I have been neglecting my blog since I have been busy on a separate project.

I also managed to get on with some email housekeeping and cleared out my inbox, filed relevant emails and deleted a vast number of redundant ones and junk.

I have also been deliriously distracted ny Pioneer woman.  I think I must have been the last woman on the world to read her recipes and her blog.  It started after I found her chocolate sheet ake recipe which I decided to use for my sons birthday cake, a easy recipe for a non baker as well as being incredibly rich with just the right amount of sweetness.  From there I have perused most of her blogged recipes before progressing to her blog on the romance between her and her husband and then looking at all her family pictures.

She is the epitome of the modern housewife, mother, career girl.  Home schooling 4 children on a cattle ranch, writing cook books and managing a very well written blog with a gorgeous husband.  If by any chance you have not seen her recipes, then I I recommend you look here.  If you are pressed for time - don't.  Its far too distracting & I guarantee that you wont get your work done.

I did email her requesting that I publish a select few of her recipes on the YapYapOK Free Classifieds recipe forum - with a link of-course, I am still waiting for a response.  My guess is that she receives a vast number of emails, judging by the third party comments after every publication and just cannot get around to reading my email too.

However she has at least inspired me to think up a few more and get around to some suitable home cooking and re visit the YapYapOK Free Classifieds recipe forum.

There Are Only Winners

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 221k Page 1 Google

My son is clearly demonstrating that he has inherited my athletic prowess.  He came 2nd in a large junior golf tournament yesterday.  He drew on points with the winner but lost on the count back, or something or other.

Personally I think Henry should have won on  the small technicality of age - as he was just 10 on friday and the winner was 15.  There were 68 entrants.

Since he has only played on a course a few times, this is a massive achievement.  The problem is that he will now get a handicap making further games harder.  Undeterred he now wants to win the next one.
Sadly he was unable to attend the award ceremony since he had tennis in the afternoon, that and the fact the steward forgot to make the promised call.  He was going to call if Henry had a placement - but there was too much chaos & organization to attend to.  Only when he stood announcing the results in-front of a crowd of about 300 (9 holers, 18 holers plus parents) did he go to say Henry, but instead announced "f..k" to all the parents.  Red faced he then explained to them that he had promised to call us in the event of a trophy.

Henry is over the moon, but cool. I am soooo proud and exceptionally gooey.

Tia

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 223k Page 1 Google UK

SERP is down after a little Social Bookmarking but hoping to see the improvements within the next day or so.

We have been fostering a little doggy on behalf of a close friend.  She has today,  after a series of "meant to be" incidents been re-homed to the nicest couple who have fallen in love with her.  I am relieved and delighted that she has now found a permanent and loving home.  Its been a gradual process where she has had visits and walks to develop a bond with them.   She has along with her new owners & home a new name, Tia.

Dog fostering has so many benefits.  You can have all the advantages of having a dog but with few responsibilities. You don't have to worry about holidays and other issues that arise with having a full time pet and you don't suffer the sorrow of seeing them at the end of their life.  Tia is probably about 5 so she has a good long life ahead of her.

So now its just the cat.  Not my cat, just one that turned up one day in search of some food.  He hasn't left yet.  Bizarre that he is the same colour as my pet who I had for 19 years and who died earlier this year.  His personality however could not be more different.  My boy was sweet and gentle and loved to cuddle.  This one has the cat version of ADH, but is full of fun & makes us laugh constantly.

So anyone out there want a pretty but lively grey tom?  Perhaps I'll put him on the YapYapOK Free Classifieds.

Touching Base

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 225k Alexa Google Page 1

I have a very busy day trying to fit in work with my sons birthday.  He is ten today and wants a treasure hunt of his presents to make it more exciting when he comes in from school.  He has asked for a roast dinner and millionaires shortbread.  Dinner is early as he has tennis late on fridays.

So between treasure hunts, dinner, baking and working, I shan't have time to breathe.

On a positive note we had an record number of registrations and hits yesterday on the YapYapOK Free Classifieds.  We also had the highest number of UK ad placing in one day.

We have a prepared press release and are about to pay Fiverr to submit to a number of online publications on our behalf.

Free Ad - Free Coverage

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 219k Page 1 Google

There has been a huge rise in hits as well as adverts.  This is of particular interest Ipod Repair since I recently discovered that our Ipod had a huge crack in the front screen.  The problem with Ipods is that they hold a great attraction for kids.  I am not sure quite how ours got damaged but apparently it was nothing to do with my son, hmm.

So by advertising on this free site, this company has definitely got at least one customer.  I hope that promoting it on the blog and the Facebook page they will receive more.

If you have a product/service to sell.   Do it on the YapYapOK Free Classifieds site.  Who knows, I may just be your first customer!!

Book Worms

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 208k Google UK Page 1 position 4

I am a bit of a book worm and have been systematically enjoying one good book after another.

My new favourite authors are Steve Martini and Mark Gimenez.  I also recently received as presents the first 2 of the three books by Steig Larrson.  The second one leaves on a bit of a cliff hanger.

Since I buy all my books from an animal charity as second hand then the third in the series has proven a little difficult to obtain, as I could not wait to find out what happens to Lisbeth Salander,  I has to look at a book review to see if she at least survives into the third and final book.  I have in the past been guilty of reading the final pages of a book if my patience is stretched and always wish I hadn't.

Whist I love reading, trying to get my son reading books has proved very testing.  I did all the right things and bought a huge variety of childrens and previously baby books, dedicating time at bedtime to read.  He always loved it, often demanding rereads of The Gruffalo and many of the Roald Dhal books.

The issue comes after the age of 7.  The abundance of girls books is clear to all of us who have boys.  I know I have been reading forums recommending books for boys and there are many parents of boys asking where they can find books to inspire their sons to read.

Harry Potter may have a great following, but Henry hates all the bizarre names and loses site of who is who.  I sympathise with that since I too struggle with this.

On advice I bought a Famous Five book.  Whilst I enjoyed these books enormously, they are now so dated that they simply do not hold the same appeal.  The Magic Tree House series suits some, but not Henry, or for that matter me.

Its almost as if I know instinctively what he would enjoy, the same intrigue and adventure of Enid Blyton, with boys as the main characters with normal easy to follow names.  So if anyone has any ideas, please share them.

My time at work has been disproportionately compromised by my search.

The Favour Bank

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 205k

I once read a book by Paulo Coelho, I can't remember which one since I have read them all.

It refers to a "Favour Bank", its all about helping and connecting people in need of help - just because you can.  Taking out of the "Favour Bank" leaves you with a moral obligation or a debt with the "Favour Bank".  Therefore once in a position to do so, it becomes your responsibility to help others.

In the book the "Favour Bank" was only available to those within a certain network.  I don't believe in this, I think we should help when we can to whomever we wish to, it should not matter if they are are not within that network.  Often those introduced to the "Favour Bank"  became in debt to it before they made any deposits, they should remember that!

Recently we have been helped no end by someone whom we have only known a relatively short time.  In deed we are very much in debt.  This is where I get a little lost, since I can't remember if we owe this person or if past favours we have done have simply been repaid.  Clearly we would love to be well placed to help our friend and shall at the first opportunity, irrelevent of the rules.

Since my husband and I have been together we have often put ourselves out to help where we could.   I strongly believe that if you can either afford to help or if its merely spending time doing a little running around, no matter how inconvenient it may be, then you simply should.  At least you can hold your head up and know that you have fulfilled the bit of you that is human.

YapYapOK Free Classifieds has had so much help from SEO experts whom we have not even had the pleasure of meeting.  In all cases rapport has been built through email.  It reminds me of a quote I recently heard  "If you have knowledge, let others light their candles at it" - Margaret Fuller.

Matrica Gets My Vote

YapYapOK Free Classifieds

Cannot recommend Matrica highly enough.

Apart from all the great communication and work that she does for me on Fiverr.  I failed to produce an article for her with the latest gig.  So she wrote one for me.

I have given Matrica some great feedback which has seen a massive improvement in her orders.  She has always fed back to say thanks for the feedback and how much it helps.

She has done 3 article submission services for me in the last 6 weeks and said that the next one is on her.  I would not dream of taking advantage of this, since IMO her work is high quality and she deserves the repeat business.  I pay just $5 for her work of which she receives only $4 from Fiverr.  Each time I benefit hugely in SERP.  This cannot be said for every gig I order, although to be fair most have been extraordinarily great value.

In particular I bought a gig promising 105 edu links on 35 sites all with 3 links each.

When I checked the data, there was only 23 sites with only one link.  I got in touch with the provider and they said they could not understand where the other links had gone.  I would have given this the benefit of the doubt but for one thing.  They only provided 23 sites, hence they must have known that they had not submitted to the promised 35, so clearly this was more than just a few missing links.

The gig was marked as late so I am sure they rushed the job to ensure payment.   If they had communicated with me, I would have happily waited for them to complete the job properly.  Since they are refunding me ( I requested that the job was just finished)  then I don't feel as if it would be appropriate to give bad feedback.

It feels a little unfair since payment is so low.  The thing is there are a hundreds of other providers who I could have used who may have given a better service, and whilst fees are low, they mount up, I would not have chosen a gig with only 23 edu links when there are superior gigs offering more.  Had this not been a deliberate attempt, and there had been 35 sites then I would have overlooked the fact that they had only one link each and I had been deprived of 70 links.

My other favorite provider Doggydog is noticeably absent at the moment.  Since he provided a great  bookmarking service in super quick time I would like to remain loyal.  there are others who are providing the same service as him, but having had such a good experience I would have liked to have put the business his way.

YapYapOK Free Classifieds is still on Page 1 Google UK for both keywords and on Google.com for Free UK Classifieds.  I attribute most of my SERP to Matrica.  No where else could I have such great SERP for so little money.

PS if you use Matrica, and I thoroughly recommend you do, mention that you saw it here.  I want her to know that she is appreciated!!

Reporting back from last weeks golf competition.  Henry came 7th out of 24 competitors.  Thats fairly good considering his lack of course experience.  He has a 1 hour lesson in an academy every Sunday where they practice driving and putting.  The other players are more experienced and most are much older with only a couple of his age, he is nearly 10.

Sunday so I am experimenting in the kitchen

We are having stovies with honey and mustard chicken with a hot tomato salad.

The difference is the hot tomato salad so if its a success I will post it on the YapYapOK recipe forum.

I am slow roasting the tomatoes in olive oil, a little honey, garlic  and some lemon juice.  Well seasoned with salt and freshly ground pepper.

When they are cooked I will add some chedder and grill until a little golden

Place on a bed of rocket and garnish with lots of basil.

Finally dress them with ev olive oil, honey, lemon juice, crushed garlic and add more crushed pepper.

I am reasonably confident since I did a similar one recently only instead of grilling with chedder, I added a good couple of tablespoons of finely grated parmesan in the dressing.  It was delicious with the picante pasta.

If its a disaster, I will not refer to this post again.  My failure will be published on the blog for all to see.  Check the recipe forum on the YapYapOK Free Classifieds site to see if it made it.

Single Child Parenting

YapYapOK Free Clsssifieds 207k - Still on Page 1 Google

Its Saturday and I am off topic.

My son has disappeared for a day with his friends at their house.  Yesterday he was at another friends and he has a sleep over organised for next friday.

Tomorrow he has golf in the morning followed by 2 hours of tennis.  I feel as if I never see him.

The problem with only having one child is that you sibling rivalry can not exist.  Parenting, for me is a real pleasure and I love spending time with him.  We have always been a threesome and its been fun.  As he gets older we are very much a couple and there is a gaping hole that gets bigger the more independent he becomes.

I see now why pets become replacement children for either the childless or for those whose offspring have flown the nest.  Mayybe this is also the reason why being a grandparent is so special.

My current focus is our very naughty but adorable cat.  Having a child stilted my love of animals, I have now come full circle and would happily have a menagerie but for my husband.

I would love to take up horse riding again.  Go dog walking and have at least 2 cats at home.  Currently I am too busy to comit to anything but maybe as my son spends less time at home that need to nurture will become irresistibly strong.

I am curious to know if other single child parents feel like this too, I don't mean to generalise and would love some comments.
