Who moved the bloody cheese - again!

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 185k Free UK Classifieds 24k

Totally off Topic

I recently read a book called "Who moved my cheese".  This is about how life does not always steer us in the direction we planned and how we need to adapt to the situation.  The "Cheese: is a metaphor for what ever you are wanting in life, a job, a home, anything.

Recently, like many others we had our cheese well and truly moved.  It took a while to grasp the situation and re-plan how we were going to get by without it & to find more cheese to take its place.  Since then some things have almost miraculously fallen into place.  We once again had a clear focus and a plan to get there.

We breathed a sigh of relief tightened our belts and prepared for the big move forward.  A new job will be taking my husband away regularly, but we will manage.  We are relocating so that we have more friends & family around.  Much better when you have an absent husband.  We are still a little uncertain about exactly where we will be as we need to consider timing, we have a son with an education to consider, also he has to be near a good tennis academy.  So before we had a chance to finalize the final points, some one moved the bloody cheese - again.

Last night our sons tennis coach informed us that he was putting him forward for a tennis assessment in Serbia.  The assessment will take 1 month and its a once in a lifetime opportunity.  There will be scouts from the US as well as world class coaches.  He has selected a few children from this country.  If he is spotted it will mean that he will be sponsored from here on.  The issue is that our son is only 9.  Normally they only take children of 12 and above.

So now we must wait to see if he gets accepted, if that happens we have to find the funds to pay for that and my traveling expenses too.   I desperately want it for him as he is so passionate about tennis.  If he gets in we have to measure up and not let him down.

Our options just now are Kickstart.com and a letter to Oprah - seriously!  I prey that he gets this opportunity and we will adapt accordingly.

After this please I'd like some consistency.  Stop moving my cheese!

SEO In A Nutshell!

YapYapOK Free Classifieds Alexa 180k Free UK Classifieds 24k

We are preparing for the new YapYapOK Free Classifieds competition & all the information on entering will be on the website today.   Simply Post A Free Ad - Win An iPad

All entries will need to have access to the Mail On Sunday Supplementary You magazine and enter the code on the advert near the back of the mag.  For those not likely to see it, I will post the advert on our Facebook, go to the Facebook link on the site to see.

YapYapOK Free Classifieds is maintaining SERP on Google which suggests that we have stability and now need to do some more work to creep up another few places.  At this level climbing one position is incredibly hard.  However I have secret tools & clever tricks, namely Doggydog and Matrica on Fiverr.  I think a monthly visit to use their services will help close the gap to pole position.

Matrica will spin and submit articles, this works so well.  I have had an article published in Ezine, its not actually promotional enough for the other article sites which have some tolerance for promotional material.  So I will change some of the more salient points to raise some brand awareness.  After that I will send it to Matrica who will give me 300 versions of the article after she has submitted them.  She also uses Senuke - its meant to be powerful but I am unsure what it does.

Doggydog is the Social bookmarker.  He submits to 300 Social bookmarks, I will use this every 4 - 6 weeks.

At this point we can afford to narrow down the number of techniques used.  In addition to these, we will submit to article sites and submit to directories.

Even if I was starting SEO on a new site I think that we would limit ourselves to the tools listed above.  I would not pay for any PPC advertising.

De Link The Wheel

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 180k Free UK Classifieds 24k

We are back on page 1 Google UK.  Free Classifieds is placement 9 and Free UK Classifieds is occupying position 7.

I can only attribute link wheels to the SERP drop.

When the SERP dropped over a week ago, I disabled all my links in the wheel instinctively.  After I identified the meta data error and addressed it, I made the assumption that this was the issue.  I did not wait a few days as I should have to see if my SERP would improve.  I immediately relinked my wheel.  My SERP went to page 3 probably because of the meta data the next day.  The day after the site was sandboxed.

I have remarked on the issues I have about pointing to sites with anchor texts relevant to the money site pointing to other sites then in turn pointing to the hub.  It seems wholly contrived and unnatural.  My gut instinct told me not to do it.  So 2 days ago I set about re removing the links of the wheel.  Only the unnatural ones eg Free Classifieds pointing to Squidoo etc.  The ones that were pointing to the hub with relevance I kept in.

The only thing that I changed twice were link wheels.  I twice dropped and twice recovered after de linking.  I have not paid for link farms or had created any more or less links than I had previously.

I have read that link wheels have the capacity to take sites to the number 1 place in Google within hours.  I cannot see this as it takes a little longer than that for the links to be indexed even with Google Caffeine.

My experience with link wheels is not a good one, maybe there are other reasons for our drop in SERP.  Personally I will not waste another moment on them.

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 180k Free UK Classifieds 24k

I have had some concerns about the unnatural linking in a link wheel, not so much the format as I am quite sure that you can make that look very natural, lets face it, its manual linking and you write your own articles.  The issue I have is the choice of keyword being sent to a site which is not representative of that word.  The article may relate to the keyword.  It flies in the face of a book I read called SEO for dummies.  This book is more about relevance of content as well as meta daya and title.  Now whilst you can get the content to match, the others are not necessarily so easy.

So I have disabled my links, I am unsure if this is temporary or permanent.  I will go back to my submissions and articles which have worked so well and do my SEO the old fashioned way.

I will utilise Fiverr which is amazing.  Marika is amazing with her article spin and submission service and I will definitely use her again.  My SERP increased massivley with a combination of her gig as well as Doggydog.

Due to my linking strategy I need to leave it the socila bookmarking 2 weeks but I will use the article submissions in another weeks time.

Links & The Sandbox Effect

YapYapOK Free Classifieds  179k Free UK Classifieds 22k

I have been reading up on links, links farms & the Google sandbox.
Google banns sites which use blackhat methods for manipulating the SERP.  You can tell if Google Sandboxed by your change in SERP.  If you rank on on for example the 40th page of the search results for a well optimised website for dream keywords then according to an entry on the digital point forum you have been Sandboxed.

According to many forum discussion groups one of the way to get Sandboxed is to create too many links at once, pay link farms or to have another unusual linking strategy.  The problem with this of course is that you have no control over your links.  Any malicious competitor can simple create thousands of one way links in one  to sand box your site.  Its easy and its inexpensive.  Consequently there is a lot of debate as to weather or not the Sandbox actually exists.

Having read as much as I have read on links, SEO & the Google Sandbox, I cant say if one way or another if the Sandbox exists, but I am fairly certain that if it, an excessive linking strategy will not result in the Sandboxed effect.  I am a little concerned about the link wheels as this is a little different.  This creates unnatural keywords to point to sites with links to the hub site.  Couple this with the fact that my site has dropped SERP, I have to say that this is my prime suspect.  My last drop in SERP I took away some links in my link wheels.  After the metad data error I replaced them I have been working on them up until yesterday.  Today my site has dropped again.

This could be that the links are being indexed and during any SEO work, the sites drop back then climb past the original position.  Because of that I will not be too hasty and wait it out a day or two.

If after 2 dyas there is no improvement then I will remove the links and report back.

Reflection

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 179k Free UK Classifieds 24k

Just a quick refection on some of the free tools and paid services that we have utilised & recommend for SERP.

  • Backlinks with anchor text links, particularly directory submission services, forums, social bookmarks
  • Article sites.  You can be fairly promotional for many but keep Ezine neutral with just a couple of anchor text links, great for PR
  • Link Wheels - yet to measure this
  • Fiverr - a good resource, We used for SEO analysis, links, article spinning, social bookmarking, logo design etc for $5
  • Twitter, a great launch pad
  • Tweet Adder - great for automating Twitter
  • Facebook - pretty much key.
  • Blogger, Posterous, Linkedin, My Space.
  • Reddit, Propeller, Squidoo, Hubpages, Google Know, some of these represent part of our link wheel
  • Other free web templates for Link Wheels

I would no longer recommend ExactSeek.com, this has to be automated, the primary keywords performed well.  After expanding the trial nothing performed very well again.  Their data suggests it does, but there is no correlation whatsoever between their data and mine.  Not helped buy the fact that they still have not indexed my site.  I can pay for premium service site submission, however I wont.  My mother has a saying, " They had it all at once".  They did they will not see any more cash from here!

Squids & Knols

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 179k Free UK Classifieds 22k

Our relationship with Google is back on track. My small meta error saw us plummet beyond page 15, thats when I stopped looking. Within 3 days of putting it right we are now on page 3. So we have about 15 places to climb. I fully expect to be back there within the next 2 days & almost certainly within the week.

I have been congratulated on a featured Squidoo lens. I'm not really sure what that means. Apparently to improve my rank I need to update my lens. The only thing is I am not sure how to do it. I have looked. the lens to me looks rather like a blog but without the ability to post another one. There is room for comments and I can create another lens but I I don't think I can do more than this on the lens that I have created.

My recent Ezine article was denied publication for being too promotional. I have submitted and had many articles published but had steered away from Ezine after reading the terms & conditions. The more I read on article sites, the more apparent that Ezine is considered "The" article site! So I spent a good hour or so putting an article in the correct format with the right amount of anchors in the correct places. Sadly it ws rejected due to promotional material & I had to rewrite it.

I spent another 1 hour plus creating a second generic article of Free Classifieds listing sites, how to choose them and how to format an advert. My anchors are below the fold, one to Squidoo and one to the YapYapOK Free Classifieds website.

I am spending a little more time on my link wheel today. The links are more random than wheel, & there is no closing link. I strongly recommend Google Knol to be one of the sites in your wheel. I have written an article about Free Classifieds with several anchor text links. The stats on Knol are more rewarding then the ones on my Squidoo. I may spin my Ezine article & create a new lens for Squidoo to see if that helps!

Linking Strategy

YapYapOK Free Classifieds Alexa 178k Free UK Classifieds 22k

I am waiting for Google to re-spider & acknowledge that I have changed the meta data error that saw the site drop in SERP for our keywords.  I am trying to remember how long it took from the original change to the drop & I think it was about 6 days.  the meta data was only remedied 2 days ago.  I pinged the url to try to hurry it along.

Meanwhile I am continuing with backlinks & anchor text.  I was going to join Linksero.  Its an automated link building system using three way linking.  Since the links do not reciprocate and they are only 6 each day, it appears to be a perfectly normal linking strategy in the eyes of the search engines.

Its necessary to have a developer on hand prior to signing up, you need to create a partner page & there are a couple of bits of code that you need to put in.  Its  totally free & relies on website owners signing up.  If you remove your partner page you are removed from the link system.  Theoretically this sounds great.  I was signing on the dotted line and had just had a partner page created untill...

....I dropped SERP.  I began to look long and hard at linking strategy.  I read that linking to sites high in PR are beneficial to your SERP.  According to numerous text that I read, PR plays a part in SERP.  Therefore higher PR sites will in most cases have a better SERP.  By linking to high PR, you can bring your own PR up.  Equally by linking to low PR sites, you effectively dilute your PR.

Linkserp publish the PR of their sites.  70% of them are PR0.  YapYapOK Free Classifieds is PR1 & with the linking strategy that we have, we fully expect it to go up to a 2 soon.  By linking heavily to low PR sites I may well dilute the one I have.    Consequently I have decided that it is better to control the links on a smaller scale.  I dont have any need to do them myself.  There are many gigs on Fiverr where I can spend $15 per month and satisfy most of my SEO.   This will pay for high PR backlinks.  Currently I am having 50 done manually with sites ranging from PR3- PR7. Also Social Bookmarking once a month, and other directory submissions.

This frees my time to do more link wheel work & articles, yes I had one spun the quality is really poor, most don't make sense.  Apart from content updates this pretty much sums up the SEO that the Free Classifieds requires now on a regular basis.

Censored

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 178k Free UK Classifieds 22k

I am late in blogging today as we have been doing more development work.  The ad management system is now more dynamic with thumbnails of the free classifieds image against the description and the expiry date.

I have advertised on some of the more modern free classifieds websites due to creating links for my SEO.  Clearly these sites are relevant topic so by placing an advert on a free site linking our Free Classifieds to a more established one then that improves our own SERP.  Its a bit like partner linkings only I don't have to ask permission from the publishers first.

It has helped focus out attention on some of the issues I faced when administering these ads.  One of my biggest bugbears was editing ads.  Some of the sites made it so difficult to edit that I gave up.  Yes its bound to be there somewhere but I only have so much time.

Consequently the YapYapOK Free Classifieds site has a front and back end system for ad modification.  Providing the user is logged in they can view the ad and click on edit. Alternatively a seller with lots of ads to edit can go through the myyapyapok menu to get a list of all ads and go through them individually.

Currently we are adding adult filters so that images with adult content can have the image censored.  By ticking the Ok for adult content the image will be viewed.

Its inevitable that classifieds host personal adverts that can be offensive are advertised on Free Classifieds sites.  Now the user can decide if they wish to see them or not!

An Angel On Fiverr

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 179k Alexa Free UK Classifieds 20k

The new roll out of the YapYapOK website has been very exciting but not without a couple of hiccups.

Lucky for us our developer has put all else aside to help get us back on track efficiently as can ever be expected.  Screen shots from around the globe has given us clear direction of the glitches with some small alignment issues which have been solved with alarming speed.  Again Thank you Helga.

I has a report from Yasser on Fiverr consisting of 97 pages regarding the optimisation of the YapYapOK Free Classifieds using our main keyword as the target.

We had a sudden drop on Google for our keyword yesterday & I fought long and hard to see why.  We had suddenly dropped from view.  My own inadequate analysis failed to show the problem as we were clearly still indexed had not received any reports from Google and no malicious content could be found.

I contacted Yasser again to see if he could re analyse the site in return I would pay for another ($5) gig.  Without payment he instantly showed me the problem and how to fix it.  I had changed something in the meta data and it took me less than a minute to put right.  He went back to the site took another look to confirm that this was now showing correctly.

Apart from only having great experiences on Fiverr, I have to recommend Yasser for going above and beyond the call of duty and for his kindness.  It never fails to amaze me that strangers can give you time and advice for nothing.  I urge anyone wanting a detailed analysis of their site against their main Google page 1 competitors to part with the tiny fee of $5 and use his service.  here is a link to his gig.

Keywords for linkwheels

YapYapOK Free Classifieds Alexa 179k Free UK Classifieds 20k

Excellent news we are back on Page 1 Google UK. Now placing 6th with Free UK Classifieds & 7th with Free Classifieds. The top 3 places are known to get the most traffic & I have no doubt that we will attain this considering how quickly we have achieved front page placement.

All the other sites coming up within the first 25 positions are well established & fairly well known. To compete with the big boys with highly competitive keywords suggests that we are ding alot right.

One thing I was doing wrong was my link wheels. It had bothered me as there was something not quite gelling with the set up. I had, as suggested leave an open wheel. Links are random no pattern , no recipricols.

I had Googled this - but until yesterday I had not been able to identify exactly what I needed to do. The keywords that you use must be the same for your site, eg free classifieds as they are to your Hubpage, Squidoo etc. There fore, whilst it seems a little odd, I would write read the YapYapOK Squidoo lens. The anchor text is yours but the link is to the lens on Squidoo.

I now have 14 sites on my link wheel. Many of which require editing. I went through some yesterday & its my priority to finish it this morning. Just as a well built link wheel is good SEO, a badly built one is very poor.

So get the keywords right, keep an open wheel, randomly put it together looking as least like a wheel as possible.

To date the sites that we have utilised in the wheel are:-
Hubpages, Knol, Squidoo, Blogger, facebook, Scribd, Proppeller, Webnode, Weebly, Twitter, Blinkweb, Devhub, Terapad & YapyapOK Free Classifieds at the hub.

I think that we have blogged link wheels sufficiently now. I will continue to add sites to the wheel over time as well as edit and add to the ones I have got.

Back 2 Basics

YapYapOK Free Classifieds Alexa 179k Free UK Classifieds 20k

A little unsure why our Alexa is only vaguely fluctuating as opposed to climbing since we are having record traffic just now.  Even on an aggregate over 3 months we are still considerably up.

However I am not getting caught up in Alexa as its SERP which is more important.  The new rollout has lead to a drop in SERP, we were told to expect it but it is nethertheless disappointing.  I am unsure if Google will put us back up in the next few days or if I need to do more work.  The good news is that having managed Page 1 placement I know just what to do.  I wont leave it to chance and will continue with my anchor text links in directories as well as social bookmarking.

I made a few changes to the source meta data & now need to go back to basics to ensure that I have stuck within the recommended guidelines for characters.  This could end up as a quick fix but lets see.

I am unhappy with ExactSeek now.  There results do not correlate with mine & I am going to tweak my keywords for better relevence rather than resulting numbers.  Since it now accounts for relatively small traffic there is no point in trying to optimise with irrelevent tags.

YapYapOK Free Classifieds   Alexa 179k Free UK Classifieds 20k

I am working on a very limited internet for the next possible 3 days and preying that the phone company dont have much on or at least prioritise the external  fault that is causing me so many problems.

In leu of the connection my SEO & therefore results is also a little limited.  We have dropped in SERP.  Helga (developer extraordinaire) warned that this was likely due to the rollout of a new site. Whilst this glitch may be temporary it does drive me to add more sites in my linkwheel.  The internet connection may put pay to that.

So limited internet = limited SEO = limited blog.

A Go Slow

Alexa has at last changed although not in our favour.  Having said that we have jumped in the UK, our target market so we are not dissapointed.

Our SERP has increased in Google.co.uk.  We are still placing at 7th place for Free UK Classifieds but we have jumped 1-2 places - depending on the time of day for Free Classifieds to 8th place.  Clearly the goal is to get to the first 3 places.

I am having serious internets problems just now.  The connection is constantly dropping causing a slow down.  It is Sunday so I will see how frustrated I get.  If it gets better I will continue building on my link wheel.  If not, I may take some time off!

The Human Touch!

YapYapOK Free Classifieds Alexa still unchanged 177k Free UK Classifieds 25k

Its Saturday so this is off topic.

Recent events have had massive impacts particularly with entrepreneurs who have invested in whatever businesses.  I have many friends who have pushed themselves to the financial limit only to have found the last couple of years a real struggle.  Whats is so sad is how they have been judged for their business failings, often by those too wary to do it themselves.  These people also seem semi gleeful having played a safe game with all their assets in the bank.

A very good friend of ours who we have only known for the last 3 years has gone from having cash at his finger tips to a loss of more than half a million pounds in a business that could not survive the crisis.  This same friend is the first person to help anyone who needs it.  I am not sure I have met someone with so much integrity.  He is so well respected that mentioning his name seems to open many doors.

We struggling entrepeneurs lean on each other and I have found that this incredible support is what is sorting the wheat from the chaff.  The "I told you so's" is unhelpful and patronising, often coming from the ignorant who have been waiting to see you fall.

This is why I have been humbled by the "wheat".
I have always been a sucker for a sob story & I believe in karma.  It never occurs to me not to help others when I am in a position to do so.  My husband recently got involved in selling for a distributor also a great friend who was a little down on luck.  This friend has been especially good to us - so as a favour, my husband started knocking on retailers to try to create some interest.   He was successful in getting in 4 outlets within a few days as well as having a meeting with a friend of the guy I mentioned in the earlier.

My husband mentioned that this was a favor with no wages to be taken whilst the distributor got back to a strong position.  The guy replied that since he was a friend of a friend, he could now consider that they were now friends and as such would ensure a large order without taking any profit to help the distributor that he does not even know.

It is all to often true that those most willing to help are the ones with the least to give.  Maybe its because they can personally empathise, having hit rough times too.  Those with the most cling on tightly to it.

I am very lucky, I have a wonderful circle of support around me, particularly with my mother, my brother & a couple of amazing friends who have pulled out all the stops to ensure our success.  That support has helped us get through very rough times.  Fortunately we are on the up, soon we will be able to support those that need it.

Now what did I say about karma?

Optimised Sites

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 177k Free UK Classifieds 25k

Alexa no change, according to the blog they are doing some graphics update and their have not been any changes to site ranks for a while.  They are still gathering data so we are likely to see a change when the "improvements" go live.

There is a little anticipation whilst we are unsure how the changes will affect our overall rank, although I am less obsessed with this now that our SERP is better.  I would like to see how our site speed is altered in view of the huge improvements we have made which involved restricting the size of the page.  All the widgets are gone as well as the icons which slows the sites upon loading the page.

We have been doing some cleaning up of the site this morning.  There is still a little bit of alignment to sort out on some servers but apart from that we are finished with the design, or layout as my developer insists we call it.  The layout of the Free Classifieds is a little more architectural than it is creative.  By allowing the text to be the focus of the site we improve SEO, by breaking the text into an easy to read format for the user it enhances the user experience.  The only images, apart form propfiles are now limited to the adverts.

All adverts are given the title text as an alt tag, or alternative text for the image so that the search engines can read them.  This helps keywords find adverts on a generalised search via the search engines.

It seems to me that whilst SEO is a subject that many web developers are either unfamiliar with or distance themselves from, it is actually imperative to have a developer who understands not just the fundamentals but also some of the more complex  issues of SEO.

A website with low SEO or one that is built in frames is unlikely to rank well even with so many tried and tested SEO strategies in place.  There is simply too much competition.  Lucky for me, I have the best developer working on the best Free Classifieds.

A New Class Of Classifieds

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 177k Alexa Free UK Classifieds 25k

The new look YapYapOK Free Classifieds is obviously having a positive effect.  We are getting more page visits as well as adverts.

I am back to my link wheel to day so I will be concentrating on  some more web templates.

When building a linkwheel I strongly suggest that you draw it add a line for every link.  They begin to look very complex & its impossible to remember where each site links to.  I currently have a total of 12 sites to my link wheel and anticipate another 2 today.  Also create a list in word with all the wheels urls.  This makes it far easier to link to, otherwise you have to keep revisiting the sites.

We have a few minor adjustments to the site following the changes.  Mainly they are allignment issues.  They display differently in different browsers.   I ranthe new site through RankBuzz and where before we had 133 errors, the new Free Classifieds has none.  So again, well done Helga!

I forgot to say that we are back on page 1 of Google for Free Classifieds, no change for Free UK Classifieds which has never dropped.

A Brand New YapYapOK

YapYapOK  Free Classifieds Alexa 177k Free UK Classifieds 25k

Drum roll please!
Take a look at the new YapYapOK Free Classifieds! We opted for a subtle look which really makes the adverts stand out.  There are some cute details giving the site a little extra va va vroom.  My favourite is the Newtons cradle in the Alexa box.  The site is also a 3.0 site, we have moved on!

With a new Free Classifieds site comes a whole lot of work.  So I have to get on with it for fear of retribution from Helga developer extraordinaire.

Oh, and we are back on page 1 of Google.

Experience is the teacher of all things.

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 177k Free UK Classifieds 25k

I have so far completed 11 sites in my link wheel and hope to get round to another 2 today.  I have an extraordinary busy day since today we will load all the new changes of the version of YapYapOK Free Classifieds.

I noticed that we are on the top of page 2 for Free Classifieds Google UK, this is likely to be as a result of the link building.  I read that before you climb up after link building, you tend to drop.  I absolutely noticed this before dropping a significant amount in a day only to have climbed up several pages 2 or 3 days after.  We are maintaining our position with Free UK Classifieds but that's probably because I am not working with that one just now.

The first wheel of sites in my link wheel are :

  1. Squidoo
  2. Ezine
  3. YapYapOK Facebook
  4. Hubpages
  5. Google Knol
  6. Blogger ( & Posturous, linkedin due to multi posting)

The next layer so far is
  1. MySpace
  2. Webnode
  3. Propellor
  4. Scribd

I shall probably use a couple more web template sites but would like to see that they allow dofollow links.

YapYapOK Free Classifieds, watch out for a whole new look.

Wheeling in the links

YapYapOK Free Classifieds Alexa 177k UK Free UK Classifieds  25k
There is much excitement as we prepare for the launch of the new YapYapOK Free Classifieds.  Gone are the icons and bright colours.  We have a new subtle yet stunning layout with a dynamic new YapYapOK logo.

The developer has surpassed herself, an impossible task you may think but wait until you see it!

I on the other hand am working on my link wheel daily.  Today I created a blog in myspace as well as a webnode.  Its a little lacking as it wont recognise my jpeg files as jpeg files so the branding is not there.  Not to worry its raisen d'etre is more for link juice than for public browsing.  It adds another spoke in the wheel.

From what I can gather you can make your link wheel as complex and large as you wish.  I plan to add 2 more sites a day to mine, so lets see how it works.

LinkWheel

YapYapOK Free Classifieds

A different blog for my new link wheel.

A link wheel represents a wheel with sites linked in a cirlce one way. All of these site then link to your site with inbound links. Imagine your site in the middle (the hub) with all these sites linking inwards surrounding it in a cycle. Those around the outside and linked in rotation, hence the wheel.

So how did I do it.

  • I created a Squidoo lens with a link to the YapYapOK website - You will need to learn how to add a html link.
  • I created an Ezine article with a link to YapYapOK Free Classifieds and to the Squidoo
  • Next a Hubpage linking to the ezine page and to the YapYapOK Free Classifieds
  • Then create a Google knol and link back to the Hubpage and to the YapYapOK Free Classifieds
  • Blogged with links to the knol and to the YapYapOK Free Classifieds - Ta da
  • Finally edit your squidoo and enter a link into the Google knol page and the YapYapOK Free Classifieds - my next task

Since I am awaiting publication from Ezine I cannot close my loop. Apparently there is need to close a loop and I have yet to see if it may be worth leaving my Ezine open to add more websites. As I understand you an create another wider circle of sites all pointing to each other as well as the hub and to the inner circle.

One more step to go!

Obsessing the SERP

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 177k Global Alexa, Free UK Classifieds 25k UK Alexa

For the keyword Free UK Classifieds and Free Classifieds we are now on page 1 Google.co.uk.

We may have some issues with SERP due to an upgrade about to be implemented but hopefully it will not effect us for long. The goal now is to get Free Classifieds to Google.com Page 1, we are already enjoying this with Free UK Classifieds.

I am no longer obsessing the Alexa rank, habit makes me publish it at the top of every blog.  SERP brings the traffic and this is largely down to in bound links with anchor text as well as traffic.  Look after the SERP and Alexa will take care of itself.

Best Giggs so far on Fiverr!

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 177k Free UK Classifieds 27k

YapYapOK Free Classifieds is still in the same SERP as yesterday.  There is always a little anxiety when you have seen good placement growth assessing if your position is maintained.  There is also a small expectation that you may actually rise a bit more.

I employed the services of Yasser on Fiverr who promises that he will assess your website and get you on to the top ten ranks of any search engine for any keyword.  We chose Google.com with the term Free Classifieds

Once again I was delighted with the response.  I had half expected a list of directories with a set of instructions on various link building opportunities.  Imagine my surprise when after only 4 days I received a comprehensive 90 page document with tables and graphs illustrating all seo parameters of not only of our website but also of our 10 major competitors.

Analysis of links and percentage of associated keywords is one of the subjects of the report.  Another is keyword density where your site is analysed as well as all your major competitors providing a range as a comparable.  Apart from the comparable s, against each report, Yasser gives advice on what to do to get a specific attribute up to par.

The basic summary stated that our Free Classifieds meets 89% of the requirements for a top 10 placement on Google.com for the term Free Classifieds.

Aside from producing a beautifully executed report that is easy to follow and very logical, Yasser was positive and enthusiastic about the the YapYapOK Free Classifieds, describing it as awesome!

I feel very mean if I dont mention some other amazing giggs on Fiverr.  Not just beceause they are amazing but all the ones listed below went beyond the the gigg description to either do more work, advise what my next course of action should be or in the case of the logo, produce a fabulous 3d logo in less than a day.
Craigy72 for 3D render of logo
Matrica for spinning and article submission, as well as being very positive anf feeding back to me on how I can take the site from there to better SERP, 2 full page emails.
Doggydog for social bookmarking we pushed this to do 2 similar keywords, free classifieds and free uk classifieds.   The 2nd uptake was less than half so he refused the $5 fee.  Upon my insistance that he take the fee as he had pre warned me that it might not happen, he tried again to get a 90% success rate.
Smartgen I really don't want to give this one away as its my little secret, however that would be unfair to him.  Providing 50,000 hits, great for Alexa.  Yes they are real, its from his traffic exchange and they are recording on my stats.

Yesterday I reported that Buildmylink should provide a service for one off submissions.  Not easy to find but they do.  The cost is $2 per link.  I will probably use this a few times each month.

I am now about to print off my report for some methodical seo action.  Damn 90 pages!

SERP-ing

YapYapOK Free Classifieds Alexa 177k  SERP Google UK - 15 , Free UK Classifieds Alexa 27k SERP Google UK 5

Delighted with SERP.  Used the Xrumer forum blaster courtesy of Fiverrto get over 2000 profiles with inbound links.  Also Social bookmarking for both keywords, 200 each.   Hopefully Google will continue to index the links and we should continue to see higher positioning with Google.

I  have about 10 days left on the buildmyrank trial so I will need to finish my link quota.  If you choose to not continue with the membership then the links are not cancelled so this is a very worthwhile system to use.  There are similar systems where you can pay a submission fee for each article, around $2 each.

Clearly if you have a number of domains then the discounted monthly fee is very worthwhile and the normal fee is also probably fair value.  It becomes less valuable when you only have 1 domain to submit.  I would need to exceed submissions Free Classifieds articles of 30 each month to make the discount version pay and over 60 for the normal price.  I have submitted 4 articles and used 7 of my 10 trial links.  I am struggling to write more about Free Classifieds having covered most angles!

Buildmyrank insist on non spun unique articles to ensure reasonable quality.  This also gives the article a better chance of getting publishes on their PR1-PR6 sites.   Having had my articles spun I completely understand this request.   All of my articles were approved very quickly and all published within 1 day of submission.

I have read about similar sites where the articles don't get published for weeks, so I can vouch for this system.  I am fairly certain that this has helped improve my SERP too.

So I need to develop some very creative writing skills, a new angle on Free Classifieds.  Anyone any ideas?

Upwards in SERPS

YapYapOK  Free Classifieds 178k Free UK Classifieds 27k

Our SERP for Free Classifieds has moved up 3 places and we now reside at the bottom of page 2 for Google UK.

I have been using Fiverr for spinning and submission of articles, 200 Social Bookmarks and Xrumer forum blasting.  I managed over 200 articles with submissions for $5, I can see them very clearly on Google when I enter YapYapOK.

Xrumer forum blaster blasted my url or keyword to over 2000 forums with a link.  Many of these will not yet be indexed so we should gain a few more placements.   By employing the services of the vendors on Fiverer I am not needing to buy the software required for submissions or for spinning articles.

I am so confident in the services offered on Fiverr that I think I can outsource a lot of my SEO for around $50 each month and drop my paid ad campaigns

The Xrumer forum blaster report I received from the seller on Fiverr, advised me not to ping more than 50 of the links a day.  I have heard the term Ping so often and chosen to ignore it.  Mainly because my brain has been too full to take on anything else, I am very new to SEO and every single thing I have implemented has taken translation, research and analysis.  If I had even had a little knowledge of the terminology I could have saved my self a lot of time.

When you update the content on your site, Pinging it is a way of saying cooey to the search engines to re spider your site, acknowledge your changes and hope that you are rewarded with a better SERP.  The spiders will find it naturally and you can allow an organic assessment, but it may take a while.

Do not do what I did and download software that tried to block every web page I got up and was a devil to uninstall.  There is  a way to do it on your computer thats is well explained in Wiki.  I have a MAC so my Ping is in my applications.

I am off too Ping some Free Classifieds articles and Social bookmarks that link to the YapYapOK Free Classifieds site.

SEO programs for SERP

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 178k Free UK Classifieds 26k

Just when you think that you are finally getting a handle on SEO and all that is required for a higher SERP, then something comes from around the corner to blow all your theories out of the water.

To be fair the basics stay the same but the tools to apply them is  what blasts some sites up the ranks.  I have managed fairly well so far without them.  I have had the YapYapOK Free Classifieds assessed and the reports back are very positive.  To rank so well with a site that is only 9 months old,  in a hugely competitive market is exceptional.

I am now looking at linkwheels as a way to build links.  This is a program where your site sits at the hub and other sites link around it pointing to one on the side and to the hub site.  Since the links are not recipricol then a natural link building appearance occurs.  I have looked at linkserp which is a free 3 way linking system and I am just waiting to get my partner page integrated on the site to incorporate it.

Linkserp builds 6 in bound links per day, relatively small numbers, but they should be reasonably permanent.  Anyone removing their partner page is banned, I am guessing that most will want to keep the link page to keep the links that they have created.

I joined buildmyrank yesterday on a free trial basis.  Simply submit non spun articles with 1 link for every 150 words and publish it.  Once live it has the opportunity to get republished by anyone needing content.

The trial is limited to 10 links over a maximum of 15 days.  After that their is a monthly fee of $59 if you subscribe before the end of the trlal or $129 after.  Its great to incentivice during a free trial but it would be nice to have the time to properly assess the results prior to signing up.  I certainly will not be joining untill I have seen some positive movement in my SERP.

On the other hand I have read some very positive results about buildmyrank where one blog expert ( ranked 20,000 Alexa) attributed build my rank soley for his growth in SERP with several competitive keywords.  This is a little subjective since I then went on to search his "competitive" keywords which had no where near the competition that I have for my very generic keywords Free Classifieds.  It would be good to grade the competitiveness in keysearch terms so that we can properly evaluate a product with all the information at hand.

I am off to research Senuke and Xrumer.  Another couple of SEO tools.  I will report back when I have an understanding of what I they are!

Keyword Identity - Google

YapYapOK Free Classifieds 178k Free UK Classifieds 26k

I have been looking at competitor SERP with specific keywords.  A couple of the independent but well established known sites are working on only one keyword, Free Ads which yeilds 1,000,000 search terms on Google each month.  This is the most competitive keyword in our web genre.  Consequently there is little need to exploit the other lesser terms as they are getting significant traffic with this alone.

Whilst we are still positioned on page 1, the search term is less competitive with few searches.  It was necessary to experiment with a low search term since its success would suggest my SEO was right.  A failing search on a harder word would have meant that I would not be able to assess what I had been doing.  Particularly since Free Ads is now pushing us back to page 10.  Free Classifieds however is not only an excellent keyword for us to work on whilst we are still realtively new, it is also well searched (450,000 a month on Google)  and a page 1 position would guarantee traffic of thousands every day through Google for this keyword alone.  Currently we are placed on page 3 and only need to push it 12 places to achieve page 1 status

All I need to do is replicate what I have done so far, but with the new keyword.  Not as easy as you may think.  Many of the directories will not allow another submission so quickly nor will many of the social bookmarking sites.

So I am off to discover what other tools I can use to increase my links, white hat of course for my new main keyword Free Classifieds.
