We are on Google UK Page 1 for Free UK Classifieds, at position 8.  That's an amazing upward movement of 10 places in one day.  The Free Classifieds keyword has jumped  up 5 places & still resides at page 3.  It has to jump 12 positions for page 1, although as a competitive keyword we should get reasonable hits on page 2.

I am unsure what worked but I suspect that this is a combination of Social Bookmarking, 200 of them courtesy of Fiverr,  & directory submissions.  I will now concentrate on Free Classifieds as a search term as the traffic that this will bring will almost guarantee success.

I  utilised Fiverr for a new 3D logo & have to say that I am delighted with it.  The turn around was less than one day, I also had an article spun 200 times with a view to either submitting separately or purchasing SEO link vine.  SEO link vine is basically a piece of software which links websites requiring content with those submitting articles.  If you require traffic, simply submit regular articles with anchor texts, these articles get picked up by publishers requiring content.  As they get published on other sites, it increases the back links to yours.  I will do this using Free Classifieds as a keyword.  I am also going to trial it with Fiverr rather than pay for the whole package.

SEO link Vine does rely on a reasonable amount of effort each month.  Not only that but the content must be fresh, with publishers wanting to add it to their site.  I need research it a little more to get some unbiased reviews rather than the fake ones that then try to sell it to you on a commission basis.

SERP Page 2!

Its critical to achieve page 1 status with Google UK and we still have several places to climb.  Ofcourse being in the top 10, page 1 will not be enough but will guarantee much more traffic than page 2.  The top 3 of Google is where its at, and this is our ultimate goal.  Free Classifieds is currently at position 26 so we must climb 17 places for page 1 and 23 places for top 3, should we achieve this then we can be certain of some amazing hits since the term is searched for 450,000 times a month. Free UK Classifieds is at position 18, so needs to climb 9 places for page 1 status and 15 for top 3.

I am currently researching SEO plugins, I have no idea what these are.  I have seen some very well priced ones that guarantee several thousand visitors for a monthly fee.   I like free trials and whilct this one had a free trial, it was necessary to give card details which I am very ante.  I signed up for a $5 trial recently only to find my card was debited £60.  Not only that but the fee was recurring and they refused to acknowledge that I was even a customer, so cancelling was very difficult.

So I am looking for a free trial SEO plugin which does not ask for card details first.

I have been looking for a logo update, I wanted a 3D look with a glossy finish.  I had one back but it had no 3D and the gloss was more of a matt white shading and looked a bit amateur.  I sent it off to a graphic guy on Fiverr and he has promised a professional finish within 2 days.

More Fiverr!

I have utilised the services of Doggydog and there are now 200 social bookmarks promoting the YapYapOK Free UK Classifieds.  I have not fully researched the importance of Social Bookmarks, but the consensus appears to be that they are a good way to increase traffic.

To research it would negate the point of outsourcing since time is already to precious.  However I seriously doubt that this would cause damage to our Free UK Classifeds and $5 is a small price to pay.

I spent alot of time researching the gigs available on Fiverr.  I have copied the url of some of the services I will employ.  So far I will get some written PR.  Someone else will submit to 10 PR sites.  I will get some work done on the YapYapOK Free UK Classifieds logo, get some articles written and submitted into ezine, create an iphone app and get dome dofollows links on blogs etc.  That will cost $30.  No wonder there is so much unemployment in the west when you can outsource so easily with the internet.

I continue with Free UK Classifieds submissions confirmations.  I only wish Id found Fiverr first, $5 would have bought 3500 of them.

Prioritising SERP

I have been reviewing the Free UK Classifieds stats and I can see quite clearly that due to some very high traffic in the last quarter we have lost a little on our Alexa.  Since all our other SEO is actually up, this must be responsible of our small set back.

The YapYapOK Free Ads UK has received huge traffic over the last three days so we are hoping that this will change, by prioritising SERP over Alexa, and presuming we are successful, then Alexa rank will look after it self. 

We had lost a little on Serp with 2 of our keywords which was a little disturbing.  I have just read an article saying that during the process of link building this is a natural phenomenom.  Apparently the site goes into a temporary hold before progressing further than its original SERP.

So cross fingers and wish me luck, I only have another 500 directory confirmation emails before I do carry on more Free UK Classifieds marketing.

Compromised internet but undeterred!

I am a little frustrated with an internet connection which has failed to perform adequately for some time, particularly the last 2 days.  More off than on I am close to pulling out my hair, although vanity is possibly my saving just now.  Would love to attribute this to Alexa to this but our 3 months aggregate figures were slightly out, our new hits though will take some beating so hopefully this will push them back up again.

 

The YapYapOK Free UK Classifieds has definitely hit static in Alexa,   We did have some huge hits yesterday, more ads have provided more data so we are hopeful that this is a little glitch and we can push on as we were.

 

I am very much enjoying Fiverr and plan to peruse the site to see if I can ascertain some more great value services that would help promote the Free UK Classifieds. 

 

I have found some amazing value services s well as some positively wacky ones.  There is only so many hours in a day though and thousands of services listed under advertising as it is. 

 

Couple the quantity of services with my dodgy internet connection & I will be hard pressed to achieve much at all today.

A Fiver!

We are definitely rocking around the rank at the moment.  So the time has come to up the ante with the work.  

Since there are only so many hours in a day, the time has come for a little outsourcing.  I have used Submit 2.0 to submit to directories for me under Free UK Classifieds where possible.  They can do 3000 PR0 -PR8 for $65.  All submissions are manual and you get a free report in Excell afterwards.

For me to submit to this many directories whilst continuing with my other Free Ads UK promotions work would take at least 6 weeks.  

Another website that I have discovered, which has clearly been discovered by many is fiverr.  Its an amazing site where people vow to do a variety of things for a $5 fee.  I just looked under advertising to see how I could maximise promoting the YapYapOK Free Ads UK for a measly sum of $5.

SERP is reliant upon content, back links and traffic.  Since our Free UK Classifieds content is updated daily with many pages being added in the form of Free Ads then we needed to increase our back links as well as our traffic.  You can buy them both.  So we have used Submit 2.0 to do our backlinks and a new traffic exchange who is selling stupid numbers of hits on Fiverr - for a fiver.  Genuine traffic is obviously preferential but we need to get our page rank higher so to give it that extra push, well why not?

Obsessing The SERP

During my directory submissions I received an email from a company suggesting that I take their offer of manually submitting to well ranked directories on my behalf.

Since the YapYapOK Free UK Classifieds is tittering on the edge of Alexa, I thought that I would keep the email and research the company later.  They had a list of several packages, all that would have saved me weeks of work and represented excellent value.

The problem is I cant find it.  Its not in my inbox, my deleted ( unpurged) my YapYapOK Free Ads file, its just disappeared.  I have tried Googling "manual directory submissions" but I can't see it on the first 5 pages.  I would recognise the name as I have come across it before.

So if anyone knows where I can get  several hundred directory submissions at PR 4 and higher for a very reasonable fee, then please let me know.  We need to get the YapYapOK Free Ads SERP to the first page.

No further improvement despite massive anchor text links this week.  Need to work on page ranking to progress  further.  Apart from content and links, Google also takes into account site speed.  I have been reading the Google blog, the comments at the bottom suggest that this  does seem to scew results towards the "wealthier" websites who can afford quicker servers.  Ironically there is a suggestion that some of the webmaster tools offered by Google such as analytic s have a detrimental effect on site speed.

The YapYapOK Free Ads is comparatively slow, however these issues are being resolved with the new asp 4.0 development work.  For an in depth analysis of web issues check out Zoomph.

Captcha, ARRRGGGHHH!

The YapYapOK Free Ads has reached a steady position in Alexa so we need to increase our traffic.

Increasing the Free Ads UK page rank will undoubtedly be the best thing I can do to increase my SERP and increase the visibility of the YapYapOK Free Ads site.

Creating more links to our Free UK Classifieds will be the best way to achieve a higher page rank with Google.  So I have been doing a fair bit of directory submissions.  The only problem is, even with semi automated sites is that they still use captcha.  I hate captcha with a passion.  I cannot emphasise enough how often I will click off a site because of it.  Sadly when I need the services of a directory for my Free Ads links I would be silly let captcha stop me.

Its hard enough when the letters are mangled and twisted together, what really bothers me is the fact that they use letters that are the same when capitalised but the code is case sensitive.  The worst sites to I have found have actually deleted all the information on whatever form I have just painstakingly filled in once I have submitted the wrong captcha code.  Needless to say I click off.

I find it hysterical that captcha often comes with a little question, "Are you human?".  My answer to that would be, "I'm only human!"

I read an article that was headed, "Is captcha killing your business?" 

There has to be either a better way or why not employ case insensitive captcha, I have seen it many times.  Google have implemeted it on their Adwords tools!

If at any time it becomes necessary to employ captcha in our registration, I vow to ensure that it is non case sensitive!

Pole Position!

I managed a reasonable amount of submissions yesterday courtesy of another semi auto site - EasySubmits.  It takes slightly longer than Submitlinks but has so far been without a glitch.  Additionally info on this site was the Google Page rank, with many being PR 5.  I managed about 40 Free UK Classifieds entries just between jobs.

It also clearly shows which ones have been visited and you can check the status of the submission.  This is absolutely the easiest to use, so far.  It also differs and it seems I am not making duplicate entries.  Many results are instant and you can see if you have been added or check the status of the application.

Search Engine Results Position (SERP).  This must be the most important aspect of SEO since your SERP correlates with traffic, traffic correlates with Alexa & Alexa correlates with revenue.

As far as I can ascertain SERP is determined predominenetly & positively by 2 things.  Back links & Keywords.   There are many things that can negatively impact SERPs but to be fair most of them are fairly obvious.  If in doubt to your SEO methods just Google them.

Google page rank is a big factor in SERPS butagain this relates predominantly with back links and page rank. 

Keywords is relatively easy to achieve since its just a case of blogging about the subject of your site, for us Free Ads, as well as articles etc.  Its not rocket science but it is time consuming.

Back links are better  when they are links from well ranked sites, another reason I like Easy Submits who have the directory rank on the page.   Relevant recipricol linking with others sites is also a good one,  Again this is not brain power but it is time consuming.  I am currently looking at a tool which will do a lot of this for me.  It will take a little while to see the results so bear with me.

Using Scribd To Get Googled

One of the tools that I have been using is semi automatic submission sites.  Whilst they have been an invaluable tool they are not without glitches.

I have had issues with loading and in my frustration resorted to more Google searches for more sites.  Therin lies the rub.  Many of these are template sites with the same directories and the same glitches.  I have visited many and so far found a variety of 3.  I even joined 2 similar looking ones in the hope that they had different directories , they dont.

To date my favourites remain, Submitlinx and SubmitterBot.  I shall continue investigating others and report back.

Another tool I have been using is Scribd.  Scribd is unlike article sites in that you can publish what you want without authorisation.  Its "policed" by the users who can report you for spam.  One of the advantages of Scribd is that it allows you to publish private documents, thereby creating links with relevant content, as Google looks for related words within the context of an article, resulting in one way links to your site. 

I genuinely believe that I can attribute the sudden exposure to my site on Google.  fair enough we are not on page 1 yet but my keywords are very non specific, ie Free UK Classifieds.  Still languishing on page 3 although Free Ads UK has crept up a page from 4 to 3 and Free Ads has gone from beyond 50 to 15  then to 10 to 9 in less than 1 week.

In addition to the Scribd I have been updating content to support my anchor text where possible.

Alexa vs Search Results

Alexa is progressing now by hundreds rather than thousands.  I wonder how this translates if at all to search engine results.   Clearly Alexa is important since ad revenue is at a premium on well ranked sites.  Perhaps more necessary is the Google page rank, again I wonder if this translates into search results.

My logic, and everything I have read suggests that meta data, content and links are the most valuable assets in getting your site identified in search engine results.  Traffic will confirm its importance and the perpetual cycle begins.

High traffic is a definite factor in Alexa so I guess this is where there is correlation between search engine results and Alexa.  Anyone can get to page 1 of Google, we are for some terms.  These terms are just not looked for enough to bring reasonable traffic to your site. 

The key is to get to page 1 using a relevant but highly competitive keyword.  For us that is Free Ads where we are now at the bottom of page 9, so we have moved up by about 8 places since yesterday.  Page 9 may as well be page 100 as far as your visitors go, but it is only 80 positions or 8 pages away from pole position. If we attack this with the same tenacity with which we have Alexa ranking we will be there in no time.  Free Ads is a search used over a million times in Google alone 

Therefore I now need to priorities links associating Free UK Classifieds ( since this is the one closest to page 1) & content updates and hope that I will be rewarded with top page results, more traffic and untimately some great web real estate deserving of some premium revenue.

Semi Auto Submission Sites!

I wrote about a great new tool called SubmitterBot the other day.

It turns out there are loads of these semi auto directory submission sites available and some are better than others.  SubmitterBot is great but it does occasionally freeze.

I have now discovered Submitlinx.

Submitlinx so far has not been without glitches but is so much faster in submission loading.  Joining is free, you get credits which allow you to submit to all directories of which there is over 300 of them.  After that you can buy credits for other services re directory submissions etc. 

I also tried another one.  The problem came in that there was software to download.  Since it was not mac compatible I had to work on my old pc.  Whilst it appeared to work well, of the ones that were submitted successfully most did not recognise my url.  This was sad since it was the fastest of them all and I had even considered paying for the pro version.  The failure rate was too high so I shall wait to see if they iron out their glitches or if there is a better one.

Ourt of the 3 I have tried Submitlinx has been by far the best.  It allowed me to post about 50 links for the YapYapOK Free UK Classifieds in about 15 minutes, maybe even less.

Since relevent directory submissions with one way links with a site description pointing to your site are highly valued with search engines, then this has to be one of the best free resources available.  Couple that with lightening fast submission and your SEO is improving minute by minute.

There are loads of semi automatic systems available on the net.  You can even buy a site for yourself complete with directories..  I will continue to check them out and report which one works better.

I shall spend most of my time on directory submissions.  You can pay for this service,but have no control overe where or what topic your listing is under.  Irrelevant links will result in penalties.  Besides with the semi automatic tools available it really does not take long now.  I am still trying to get us on Google page one for Free UK Classifieds.  Currently we are at position 24, which is on the 3rd page.  Not bad since all the ones ahead of us are well known and well ranked Free UK Classifieds sites, it means we need to travel 15 places to get on the first page. 

We are at page 4 for Free Ads UK at posting 34, again very good but not good enough.  Free Ads which is highly competitive is now on a steady page 10.  Yes that may be a long way down but you may recall a blog of about a week ago where we still had not appeared on page 50, at which point I gave up.

So what can I attribute for this incredible success.  Articles with anchor text, and lots of them.  My newest one, started yesterday so cant measure the results yet, is writing very short articles with 2 anchor text links.  That way I am not wasting my time creating several per article should Google only index the first 2.  If you wish to achieve 10 anchors, write 5 mini articles.  Its more time consuming because you have to upload more than normal but I will see if we rank better and attribute it to this.

Spamdexing, meta spam, ugly spam, spam sandwich

In my quest for page 1 ranking I have been a little concerned that maybe some of my methods are crossing the spam barrier.  I dont want all the hard work to be in vain so I re read up.

A recent article suggests that the most important thing in SEO is key word rich anchor text.  For the YapYapOK Free Ads site they are words that best describe what the site does, ie free UK Classifieds.  Click these links and hey ho you are lead to the YapYapOK Free Ads UK page.

We have created a relationship between the site and the description of the site with the text.   Did we spam?  There are 3 links in just a short paragraph.   First see if it reads, if it reads like rubbish this is ugly spam.  If it makes sense then chances are its fine.

A common mistake with links is meta spam, this is a poor description of a website linked to the site.  How often do you see click here?  Not even in the interest of illustrating will the YapYapOK Free Ads site be linked and referenced as a click here.

Spamdexing or search engine spam is generally using repeated unrelated phrases as content to manipulate the relevency in search engine results.

A spam sandwich?  All of the above!

I can confidently go about my day writing all my (very) long articles each with its own keyword. Each relevent to the Free Ads site and each unique, well I dont want to be penalised for duplication do I???!!!

Page 3 and Climbing

We are now coming very high on the Google search results particularly for the UK.  We are still on page 3 for Free UK Classifieds.  We are at top of page 5 for Free Ads UK so still have some way to go yet.

I have been a little distracted this week since we are close to releasing all the new changes on the YapYapOK Free UK Classifieds site.  I also have the added anticipation knowing that their is going to be a huge amount of work on my part.  How I am going to fit it all in is something worthy of consideration.

If I am going to push us up Google then I have alot more anchor text and directory submission to go.....hence the short blog.

A quick report

There has been a dramatic increase in the number of visitors from the UK so I am hoping to see this number changed.  Its exciting to see the analytics of how visitors have found the YapYapOK Free Ads UK.

Apart from the obvious ones such as Free UK Classifieds and Free Ads UK, the searches are also coming up more and more with the product range.  Music titles seem to be well placed.

A good proportion of the global visitors are coming from the UK, our target market which is fantastic to see.

I have a lot to accomplish today and very little time.  Forgive the short blog.

Confirming To Google!

I was given to understand that anchor text links played an invaluable tool in association of a website and what it was.  For example YapYapOK is a Free Ads UK , the link goes straight to the page confirming what we are.  But hark I hear you cry, YapYapOK is so much more than a Free Ads UK site, what about the shop hosting?

Well the public only know what you have to offer after they found you, its unlikely that they will enter this in as a search term, at least they have not so far according to my stats.  Even  if they do - we come up as number one on the first page any way.  No other Free Ads UK offers free shop hosting, if they do there site is not optimised to reflect them in the search results.

So today I will mainly be eating , whoops I will be doing more articles with more anchor text.  I have decided to concentrate on one at a time.  Since page 2 of a search will only get you in front of less than 1% of the audience, then I would rather get one term as 100% than 2 or three terms on considerably less.

For a short while yesterday we were on Page 1 of Google.  This did seem to be restricted to my Firefox on my Mac only.  For the rest of the time we were ranging from page 3 to page 11 (yuck), on all computers and browsers.

I have no idea if this makes any difference but I have taken to entering Free Ads UK into Google, finding the YapYapOK Free Ads UK then clicking on it.  To my mind I am confirming to Google that this was the accurate answer to the search.

This is a very logical analysis and one that could ( and maybe has ) been accounted for in the algorythm.  If anyone has any experience of this I would love to hear.

Competitive Edge!

Competition on the internet is very heavy.  If you enter UK Free Classifieds as a search term into Google, results show that there are 30,700,000 of them.  YapYapOK will now be on page 3 or 4 with this search term.

If you enter Free Ads UK you will see that this number is up by a third delivering 45,100,000, this is a fairly new key word that we have implemented with anchor text but we are already on page 7 or 8.  Now put in Free Ads and Google delivers an astounding 133,000,000.  I got to page 50 before I gave in looking.

I have not utilised this key term as its so competitive.  Once we are better placed with the others I will turn my attention to it.  At the moment we are not actively marketing outside of the UK & I would prefer a more targeted audience at this juncture.

The good news in web marketing is that about 90% of web sites do little or no web marketing (including SEO), just as well since there Google recognizes over 3 trillion urls.  To compete with the remaining 10% can be very difficult but not impossible.  Free UK Classifieds sites have the advantage of lots of meta data due to the variety of products on the site.  However to compete against existing sites with much more data is a mammoth task. 

Remember to  compete with sites within specific keywords, one at a time.  Work with one of the lesser competitive phrases to start, becareful about being too specific, you may get on page one but that is pointless if no one is utilising that keyterm.  We are on page one for Free Classifieds and shop hosting, why?  Because that's unique to us.  Alas no one ever searches for it.  Fortunately I did my research and never tries to market with this associative text.

This is also the reason why so many SEO experts claim to get you on the first page of Google, they will work on minority specifics possibly combined with other key words and hey presto get you on Page One within a week, truely, we can all do that

Since I am always up for a challenge then I will continue my quest, I am looking for that Google Page one spot with a more generic term.

Progress for the YapYapOK Free Ads UK site is faster now than it was at 270k Alexa.  So what are we doing differently?

Nothing really except that we are doing more of it.  More articles and more directory submissions.  The directory submission is semi automatic so its fairly easy to achieve 20 a day (140) every week fitting in with the other Free Ads UK jobs.

Article submission is also done the easiest way we can, by writing private ones for Scribd.  Obviously this does not substitute the need for the real thing.  After all there is no PR as nothing gets read.  It does however allow unrestricted anchor text which is much more than is tolerated with article sites.

It takes me at least an hour to write a real article and much more to come up with a topic.  There are only so many intros and function explanations that you can do.

Private articles take about 5 minutes. I easily write one a day with at least 10 links in and not breach any rules or offend anyone.

So these are my 2 latest SEO tools which appear to be working for the YapYapOK Free Ads website, lets see how far this Free Classifieds can climb now.  Watch this space......

Spamming Links In A Well Ranked Site - & Getting Away With It!

I was delighted with such a UK Free Classifieds anchor text rich blog yesterday, it was factual but not spammy and relevant to topic.

In deed I was so pleased and felt that  with a little alteration I could publish it to Scribd and make it private, thereby having all the Free Classifieds links associated with the site on a well ranked website ( currently @ 235).  The only issue was that it was not really an article, and would probably get some negative comments.

So I decided to publish this as a private document, which I had not done before.  This would give the benefits of anchor text links without irritating anyone with the blatent self promotion.

Since during upload it didn't come up with the private box I figured I'd transfer it after wards.  I typed in "Not for reading, will place this in private documents when I can work it out"

Clearly this was an invite to read.  One of my most successfully read publications.  It took a few minutes to work out how to upload private documents.  By then over 40 Scribd members had read the bolg.

So my advice to you is, if you want an article read, type in the description -  Do not read this.  Trust me it works!

Similarly if you want to spam an article that you know would have negative feedback with anchor text links.  Publish it privately to Scribd.  I know what I'm gonna be doing all this week.  Just remember it must make sense and not have too many anchor link texts all together!

When you have an internet business, any down time on the computer is a waste of resource.  After all we pay fixed broadband every month.  The only way we can achieve a more efficient operating system is by the 3 of us working 3 straight 8 hour shifts.  Since that would involve my 9 year old son then we may be in a little trouble. 

Consequently I tend to get on the computer early and work right through until my eyes hurt (not complaining) or my husband takes over.  I have developed the art of delegation and he has drawn the short straw of directory submissions.  No I am not being cruel, its just not that long ago he was a total technophobe and whilst he mastered the art of Facebook, everything else was desperately lacking.

We have noticed that when you enter UK Free Classifieds into Google we are being placed at page 6.  If you enter Free UK Classifieds we are coming out on page 3.

Popular reasoning suggests that much past page 2 does not get a look in.  However this is a very generic search term in a highly competitive industry.  Enter Free Classifieds and shop hosting, then this more specific phrase favours YapYapOK, nearly always coming on the top of page one.

Its the same when a search term is used for one of the Free Ads on the site, we are much better placed.  So if someone is looking for a specific item, do they browse all the FREE Classifieds.  I seriously doubt it.  More likely they are going to enter the item name into Google.  Since all titles of every free classified is fed into Twitter then between YapYapOK and/or Twitter our results end up very close to the top of the page. 

So if you have something to sell, and if someones looking, then put it on the YapYapOK UK Free Classifieds!

Are Duplicates Detrimental?

I am attributing SubmitterBot for such a great rise in Alexa this week.  YapYapOK UK Free Classifieds has seen a rise of about 8% in one week. 

Yesterday I discovered that SubmitterBot also submits articles as well as to directories.  I have read that duplicates can be detrimental with the search engines.  I have also read that the search engine will only consider the first article (it spies) to be the original and all others are simply not indexed therfore not so much detrimental, more a waste of time. 

I am unsure if I should do multi submission of the same article  whilst Alexa continues to reward our current SEO methods.  I may reconsider in the future.  I would love feedback from anyone who has done multiple submissions so we can conclude from there.

So the new look YapYapOK UK Free Classifieds will be coming soon.   With it there will be even more functions not currently available on any other UK Free Ad site.  Don't worry all the old free ad functions will apply, but with a slicker, quicker even more superior site.

On On!

A nice positive jump in Alexa globally, although we seem to be having a glitch in the UK ranking.  I cannot understand why since we are getting more free ads than ever from the UK.

I am unsure which of the SEO is working but the ever increasing rank continues to motivate me through some of the dullest chores.  SubmitterBot has relinquised some of the tedium and I shall be working it today between my blogs, articles etc.

When I look at the Alexa I set up short term goals on who to surpass.  Formerly it was an old friend who had several personal and budget.  Latterly it was chosen on a whim but I knew them to be well connected with a limitless pot.

So I was pleased to overtake their rank yesterday.  I now need to fix on another site.  Rank is not enough as I need the knowledge that they have more resources at their disposal than the YapYapOK UK Free Classifieds.  Its more satisfying that way.

So my next Alexa goal is 150k.  Might not seem like so much of a jump but we are competing for rank with those who really know what they are doing now.  I'm not sure if I can work harder so I may need to work smarter, any ideas?

Loving SubmitterBot!

Sometimes you plod through the day to day manual submissions via the directories in an effort to increase your SEO.  Yesterday I came across Submitter bot.  You literally add your URL and then start submitting.  Instead of tedious templates to paste to, you load the details only once.

Submitter bot then translates this info to each engine on the click of a mouse.  If there is an anti bot code it will bring it up in a box and categories for each one appear only if relevant.

It also allow you to place articles instantly.

More Meta Data!

YapYapOK UK free classifieds will be losing all the icons.  This will make way for text linked SEO on the home page.

The home page is always something of a compromise between text which is necessary for the search engines and images which best draw the eye of the browser. 

By creating more keyword rich text with the meta data in the source it will be more recognisable not only for the search engines to find us, but ultimately to yield in relevant key word searches placing us better on front of the customer.

To access your meta tags, open your website, go to edit view source and all your meta data will be there.  Make sure to replicate some of this meta data within pages of your website in tangible sentences, ie don't spam.  Spamming will have a detrimental effect.

A Quickie for anchor links!

I am spending the morning discussing the new design of the UK Free Classifieds.  There are lots of ideas on the table with fonts, colour, even the possible shapes of the buttons.

Yesterday was spent on more submissions and content update.  Its not difficult but it takes commitment to do it on a day to day basis.  This along with my daily blog for anchor text links are part of my daily routine. 

Clearly its paid off as the YapYapOK UK Free Classified Alexa rank is showing yet more growth.  Our UK Free Ads continues to illicit interest form around the globe and we are only 100k from our goal!

Progress!

This week we will start the design changes of the YapYapOK UK Free Classifieds site.

I am hoping to have most of the ideas in place this week, inevitably there will be changes as we "play" with the design.  For the most part I think that it has been decided.  Implementing the design will take a while longer but we are looking for an end of July launch.

Our global rank has climbed and we are just about to tip over the edge and into the one hundred thousands, our goal is now in site.  The Free Classifieds UK rank has suffered over the course of the week, however I am certain that in the event of a record ad day yesterday, particularly from the UK, then this will see a positive movement today.

I have spent at least an hour on Saturday and on Sunday with directory submissions.  Its a little time consuming but you often find ones which submit to multiple engines as you go..  I probably managed about 70 submissions which isn't bad.  Since I did them manually I was able to see how well ranked they were with my tool bar and even avoided a couple with dubious rank. 

All of the ones I chose offered free one way linking, some requested a reciprocal link but not all were mandatory.  I do not have a facility to manually input code into my web page but I will reconsider this.

So large number of Free Ads, some content update and directory submission under UK Free Classifieds were the order of the weekend.  Fingers crossed for a positive Alexa result!

Delighted with the jump in Alexa, its quite impressive since the change was yesterday amounting to a 9k jump in 7 days.  Thats a little over 4% which at this stage is excellent.  I have been a little more proactive adding the UK Free Classifieds to directories as well as more article writing, which for me is a bind.  I am unsure how much of this is responsible for the rise in the Free Ads, but I must assume that it is having a positive impact and keep going.

Taking a well designed website from high rankings to under a million without a budget is not difficult.  It relies on regular input with content, some social networking and some SEO.  In short its commitment!

To progress beyond the 1 million with out a budget is hard unless there is are a few dedicated team members and some experienced SEO experts.

With a sizable budget most things are possible.  We are having some excellent results with Google Ads and with Microsoft Ads.   Once upon a time I remember adding negative keywords as well as mispels in my campaigns.  I have not done that this time but still the YapYapOK UK Free Classifieds has been the recipient of every combination of spellings of Free Classifieds. 

So what about a website struggling to climb the ranks which is not so well designed.  Framed sites make content unreadable for the search engines.  There fore the usual rules of updating content etc do not apply.  Meta data in the source cannot easily be matched to the framed content.  The fight of pushing badly developed sites is so difficult it is better to start get another site then to spend resources marketing the existing one.

The YapYapOK UK free classifieds is beautifully developed and each page optimised so that every Free Ad has the title combined in the URL.  This means that a search for an advertised item is easy for the search engines to see as the URL and the content are instantly matched.  There is no need to attach alt text to images as each one has the title assigned to them further enhancing the ability for the search engines to find the listed products.

The YapYapOK UK Free Classifieds has the best global rank so far, but we have dropped a bit in the UK.  So where are we getting the extra traffic to make up for the UK deficit as well as the global increase.  The answer is Australia.  There have been a number of Free Ads published from Oz but we have not marketed over there at all. 

We had a bit of a catastrophe this week.  On an economy drive we have down sized from a 2 car family to a 1 car family.  I work from home and frankly we have little need for a second car.  Until it broke down, late on thursday not tooo far from home.  Fortunately we had breakdown cover or dinner would have been very late.

The earliest we could get it seen was Friday afternoon, and although the diagnosis was not too bad we can not get the part until Monday.  My son is in a golf tournament today and we were hoping to take him and his friends out on Sunday.  We also are in dire need of some groceries.

My husband did a quick ring around to see if there were any "spare" cars and within minutes someone who I have only met once rang back saying that he had a spare, he'd drive it the 30 minutes to our house after the football if we could bring him back.

So we are once again mobile!  Very recently this mans mother passed away.  Since my husband is semi retired he agreed to cover this mans work as a favour for another friend who could not manage a double round.  We decided that we could not take any payment, sometimes you have to reach out and support fellow human beings and prop them up when they need it.  In my experience life is tough enough and friends are key to our survival.

Well karma came back to us once again.  In difficult times you can easily sort the wheat from the chaff.  Economically challenging times will show those who take in order to survive, it also shows those who give. They do it out with a pure heart, they survive but with friends and integrity intact

So the boys have left me for the day whilst they while the hours away on the golf course.  I, on the other hand have a UK Free Classifieds to promote.

Exactly How Many?

Our UK Free Classifieds rank is back in the game with Alexa, which is once again updating daily

I have in the past extolled the virtues of Exactseek.  Allow me to change my mind.  There hits are no longer registering on my stats, according to their hit counter I am averaging 36 hits per hour on this alone.  My stats say that this is more like 5. 

I emailed them to ask why my stats had stopped recording all the hits, they replied that it was down to the software I was using to measure it, but that their results are accurate.

I had read a blog by someone who claimed that ExactSeek were using bots.  I dont know how true this is.  I do know that when I put one of my key terms in the search, my site comes up, but I doubt its getting the clicks from genuine browsers.  I was getting huge traffic from some key terms which suddenly  overnight stopped performing.  Several unrelated key words stopped performing at the same time.

I had a good day yesterday, not just in terms of the work  achieved on the UK Free Classified site but also because my printer is now working with my PC.

I had an error occurring which said that the USB was not recognised.  I had spent a disproportionate amount of time trying to sort this out.  Finally I found a blog which reported this to have been a microsoft error during an upgrade.  Simply unplug (not switch off) your computer.  Plug in after a few minutes and then put the USB back in.  So simple!

I have much to do today if I am going to get the UK Free Classifieds further up the ranks, first I will try some more keyword optimisation and see if I can get some real traffic!

Hues Of Grey!

Clearly my time spent away from SEO has had a tiny effect on our ranking.  Undeterred I have spent the last hour including anchor text within forums and blogs.  I will not waste too much more time on open directories as I have read that the search engines are not placing so much importance on them due to so many buy-ins available.

Our meeting yesterday resulted in a clear direction for the new  YapYapOK UK Free Classifieds image.  Perhaps a contradiction in terms, but this UK Free Ads is going upmarket.  Well its not as if we are just a Free Classifieds site.  We have Free Shop hosting, forums, games, blogs and so much more.

We listened, we talked and we are reponding to your requests.  Whilst the Funky image of the Free Classifieds appeals to some of you.  Many businesses want a classier image to reflect their brand or their product.
