New Shop Features

Alexa rank hmmm!

Apparently you should not look at your ranking every day. Why? Because of the way Alexa moves round recording results. As other sites progress, even though yours may have too, theirs go up displacing your until the next time Alexa looks at your site. Since our site traffic was up by over 50% I doubt that we had gone down. I attribute the increase to my new Twitter tool which I will blog about tomorrow. You really need to read that one. Loads of traffic with much, MUCH less effort!

Anyway on a very happy cheery note I must report on the YapYapOK shops. Anyone with a shop will now see other items in that shop at the bottom of their advert. Take a look at this link for The Mini Book Store on YapYapOK.

There have been some other improvement such as the layout. The contact details are now to the side of the picture whilst the remaining pictures display underneath. Then the newly formated text. This means that users can see the pictures at a glance without scrolling to the bottom. The front page now displays 8 of the newest classifieds so they stay there longer! Take a peep at the YapYapOK home page

Also each displaying page will show 36 results which we feel is an optimum number. It means that you don't have to scroll through loads of pages if only a small number were displayed. The picture gallery makes it easy for the browser. By hovering the mouse over the picture a brief outline will drop down. The user will only drill in to the ad if this matches their requirements.

Whilst that may mean less traffic to your advert, it also enables a quick user friendly system for potential buyers which will draw them back time and time again. It also means that the adverts are only getting specifically targeted traffic which is after all what counts. If I need to convince you just check out other classifieds and scroll through heir systems. they really do not encourage you to go back. I would go as far to say that you would only use these if you felt that there was no alternative.

Our YapYapOK YOUTUBE vid is getting a few hits, OK its not great but budgets are tight, and its not as if you look for commercials on YouTube. Hence we called it by the song and not the website!

I still feel sure that Dire Straits would have encouraged viewings. C'mom Mark!
