Still no change from Alexa which makes me consider that there is a change in the algorithym.  Perhaps this will  take Google caffeine into account.  I am preying that this will leapfrog our Free Classifieds up the ranks but am equally concerned about negative effects

I am surmising without any authority on the subject, but its very odd that we have had no change for several days.

I had a very unproductive day yesterday.  I spent it looking at images and design.  I wanted to try my hand at icon design with  a free software trial.  I knew exactly what I wanted to achieve but was unable to get anything even remarkably similar to my idea.

The YapYapOK UK Free Classifieds continues to have many new Free Ads every day.  The last few days have seen several new shops including a specialist seller of Lalique, an upmarket jewellers, a gift shop and a selection of gay porn books.

I am off to develop and discuss how we wish to progress the YapYapOK UK Free Classifieds this morning.  I am hoping for some inspiring thoughts from our developer, my mind is a little blank.

A New Look?

YapYapOK Alexa Free UK Classifieds 209k UK Free Ads rank 12k

I have read the blog but their is nothing to suggest why Alexa is not changing as frequently as it did.   The YapYapOK UK Free Classifieds has lingered at 209k for several days.  Other sites whose rank I know also remain the same.  Perhaps they are on skeleton staff due to holidays.   Consequently I am unsure what our UK Free Ads jump will be.  I am stilll hopeful of getting below the 200k mark this week.

The rate at which ads are being placed continues to grow and we are please to see so many categories being populated.  We are getting towards the end of the list of improvements for the site.  We will soon be implementing a Facebook login and the Facebook like with comments enabled.  This is far superior to the vote system which is open to manipulation.  However a new list with a new look has emerged.

The YapYapOK UK Free Classifieds site has a retro image which does not fit with all businesses that are looking for hosting.  We have decided to research some new looks. 

I would love some feedback on site design, what appeals etc.  If you have any ideas or input into what a Free Classifieds with shop hosting would look like, then please comment!

The're Coming Home!

I need to explore more web tools to push us further up the ranks, we are getting found on search results for UK Free Classified as well as Free Ads and also just from the content.  Many of the Free ads placed are actually being found from organic Google searches rather than internal searches.  This is excellent news for all our advertisers.  Clearly we are not relying on browsers to find you because your Free Classified because you are aleady on the YapYapOK Free Ad site.

 Tomorrow I will start Squeeze pages and I will also explore Reddit at some point this week.

The football last night was a disaster.  The players themselves have been digruntled by the fans sentiment and should, under the circumstances have had the grace for empathy.  They have been shielded form the recession by inflated pay cheques and we expect better from them.  A better man would have stood up and acknowledged that.

The problem with the team is that they believe their own hype.  I don't quite understand why.  Lets face it, the proof has certainly been in the pudding.  They are simply not good enough, work on getting better or get out!

New Features

Whew back in the game for Alexa.

Might be something to do with all the new functionality we have!

We are now a UK Free Classifieds with shops and games!    The problem now is that I can't get on with work for playing Jail Break.  I can get to level 5 and my son can get to level 6.  I am unsure if its possible to get to level 7 although I am assured all 11 levels are possible.

This week we will see a whole page dedicated to games.  We endeavour to find all the best games available so that you dont have to look for them.  It takes a huge amount of playing I mean working.  Well many are not so good so we want to ensure that the one on the YapYapOK UK Free Classifieds site are the best that they can be.

So now you can browse for music, furniture, books gifts and more and have fun at the same time!

We have seen a large number of adverts from around the UK and abroad.  Many are businesses and shops taking advantage of our free hosting and multiple shop facility.

What did we say?  Oh yes.  YapyapOK UK Free classifieds is so much more than just a UK Free Ad site!

We have had a drop of 1k in Alexa which is a little dissapointing.  The drop has come from the UK whilst we have stayed static elsewhere.

We knew that climbling the next 100k was going to be tough.  We have not sat back on our laurels and we are excited to be releasing more improvements to the Free Classifieds which will see encourage more visitors and have a positive effect on the Free Ads ranking.

By the end of the weekend we will have some exciting new developments which I will report when they are in place.

I am having my sons friends over today for a barbeque, so I have not prepared any video for you.  Who know maybe next week, I will catch up!

What a Champion! 

I am blogging ahead of time as I am working on the back end of the Free Classifieds site with the site developer first thing.  I am having some of my sons friends over for a barbeque on saturday which is not great timing in view of how neglected some areas of the site have been whilst I battled with the affiliation and the free ad category attributes. 

Worse still these friends are Russian, if you have ever been invited to the Russians for food you will know just how generous and hospitable they are.  The spreads are huge and the menu very varied.  If I was having Brits over I would probably do one lot of marinated chicken with dips, breads, salads and perhaps some homemade burgers and a potato dish.  Frankly I think thats enough, its effectively 2 meals anyway.

Alas I have been embarrassed into producing pork kebabs, lamb & mint koftas, chilli pork burgers, 2 differnt lots of marinated chicken.  Breads, wedges, bean salad, green salad, salsa, Avocado dip, raita and an array of breads.  Followed by fresh fruit salad.... for 10.  The realisation that I have forgotton to buy the fruit just at this moment is a little hard hitting when time is so precious.

So once again I am compromised and pre-preparing.  Hopefully by the time I publish our Alexa will have been edited.  The YapYapOK UK Free Classified is currently at 210k.  ... I am just about to publish.

Off Topic - Swimming Gala

I am writing my Free Classifieds blog bright and early having been unable to sleep for the past hour or so.  I hate to see waking hours not properly utilised and I have a short day as  today is my sons swimming gala.

He is incredibly sporty having inherited an expressive throwback gene since neither myself or his father show any athletic tendency what so ever.  Latterly we have taken up tennis with the sole intention being that if we didn't we would lose him to sport and never see him at all.  He is almost obsessive about tennis and has such an amazing coach who generally thinks that Henry is some kind of prodigy.  So much so in fact that he is now giving free coaching and has provided him with tennis trainers ( the recent ones we bought, despite being Nike and sold as such by the attendant are not right).  He has also given professional rackets since Henrys although  expensive and sold to us by an academy has too wide a handle which will induce RSI.

Henry is used to winning every sport event.  Sports day was a clean sweep and he champions at tennis in competition too.  Today he assures me that he wont win at backstroke as he cant get any kind of technique.  He will win breaststroke easily and crawl will be hard.  He is up against twins who have had pro training whilst he has not had any. 

It never occurred to me how much importance was placed on these events.  As a non competer myself, although I did always win the skipping race, I never actually cared.  Clearly his self motivation is admirable, but I do worry that he puts too much pressure on himself.  He has taken to doing 100 sit ups every day and he is only 9.

So today i will only acheive small amounts of SEO on the YapYapOK Free Classifieds site.  Hope fully it will be enough to push us a little further up the ranks, if not I will have to burn some of that midnight oil.  Hmmm might be a clue as to where Henry gets the his self motivation from after all!

All systems GOOOOOOO!

I am delighted to say that I am at the end of compatibility on our affiliated Free Classified site.  I have a number of attributes which I am changing retrospectively to attend to but at least every Free Ad category now has listings from around the web on them.

I am getting a huge amount of content update every day on every Free Classified category and sub category.  That amounts to an update on over 200 pages every day in a language easily detected by the search engines.  For that reason alone I feel that the huge monotonous task has been worthwhile.

Since we now have a large number of products via this system on our website, I have noticed that we are getting seen more and more in Google search results for either Free Classifieds or Free UK Classifieds.  The content has also provided us with a massive number of keywords and data which is also getting picked up.

I am hoping that this will drive our Alexa and Google rank further forward.

Updating Content

My blog is a welcome relief from working on compatibility.  I excused my self from it yesterday by thinking that since the content will upgrade all together then Google will only see it once.  I am now having to refocus as the Free ads continually updates anyway.

Its an excellent way of getting new content to the site on a continual basis.  Clearly as a Free Classifieds its to be expected that we have new content.  However as a new free ads some of our categories have been in dyer need of new content.  The issue is that when you start out its fairly clear that too many categories will remain empty for some time.  Too few categories and there is insufficient choice for the browser.

Updating content is a great way to optimise your site.  Its possibly why there are so many Blogs ranked well.  Static sites which are rarely updated suffer with low visitor numbers and low ranking.  I understand that the new Google Caffeine sees updates more quickly that the old search engine so hopefully this will work in our favour too.

We Have Arrived

We are affiliated!!!!  A tremendously huge thank you to Helga who has pulled out all the stops, worked all weekend, when she should have been writing a TMA for her third year degree ( her 4th degree, one of which is a masters) and finalised the coding to make this possible.

Every category now has the top newest  Free Ads relevant to that category from around the web.  At the moment we have limited these Free Classifieds to the UK but anticipate utilising a US one for our .com domain.

The sub categories are currently requiring compaability so that each set of free ads underneath are relevant to the sub category.  This is a little time consuming and monotonous but I expect that I will have finished ( again at SEO cost) within the next couple of days.

Clearly we are not suffering with the neglected SEO.... just take a look at Alexa.  Our Free Classifieds has climbed 5k in one night, 23k in a week which is about 10%.  I am delighted with this.  We hope to go another 10% this week which will take us to under the 200k ranking.

So whilst my heading for this post may seem premature - after all we have not really arrived until we are under 100k, We do now have a reasonable list of sex toys listed.  Ok not really sure how it relates to Health and Beauty &  did I really say premature.  How apt!

Compatible - At Last

Alexa movement is slow but we are expecting better things today due to heightened activity. 

You may remember that we were affiliating with another Free Classifieds site.  This has taken a long time due to compatability issues.  I will be spending alot of my time making our Free Ads site compatible with the other Free Classifieds site we are integrating.

There are the obvious issues such as the category name but also the grouping.  Additionally they all have special fields specific to the category which we dont incorporate yet.  For example a car has special fields such as make, model, registration etc.  A property may be number of bedrooms, garage, garden etc.  So every category and sub category must have a compatible field written into our Free Ads site.

The format in which the Free Ad is received is also another development problem.  We could have had it integrated fairly easily with the API but in order to benefit us so that we benefit form the meta data ( one code is in java so that was not an option), we required the code to be written into a new program that ensured we receive the data in a format that is aesthetically pleasing and also one which is SEO friendly!

The biggest obstacles are overcome and we are at last compatible!

It is not up and running as yet since this is far more complex than I could have imagines and requires a little more development work.  Fingers crossed for Tuesday!

Business-In-Site

I spent so much work on the admin system, largely invisible until a line of code is implemented to give it life that I failed miserably in acheiving the various SEO techniques that I employ.  Admin changes do not count as content update ( I didnt know that),  so I am relying heavily on other activity to bring about a positive improvement in Alexa.

I found a fantastic site yesterday with various free tools that you could use  to check your site including site security and ranking.  They offer a loyalty following on Twitter where they will promote you just for following.  I took advantage of many of the systems loaded, I am pleased to say that we had a green result (safe) for site security from McAfee.

Here is the link to Business-In-Site.  They have alot to report & I shall be following them closely.  They also have a forum which I have joined.  I am not put off by the lack of responses as I anticipate great things soon, particularly in view of their Google page rank and Alexa ranking which is particularly good for such a new website.

New Developments Soon!

No change for the Free ads Alexa rank yet.

I spent all yesterday morning preparing an API to feed other free ads from another site to filter through to our Free Classifieds.  There are clear issues regarding compatibility.  We have categories where they have none, they have expanded some categories where we only have one.  Consequently we will start integrating a few categories at a time and I will spend all my spare (funny) time matching the categories together.

The reason for this integration is to give the users more choice when browsing through the Free ads.  Whilst we are getting an enormous amount of  free adverts within some categories there are other barely populated at all.

Apart from the obvious advantage to the user, we are hoping that we will qualify for more related free classified keyword search results hence increasing our visitor numbers and with it our rank. 

Next week I will be looking at integrating a few games to give the Free Ad site some glue.  I am unsure if this is going to be a big improvement but I have some ideas about how to get it out there and look forward to the results.  Clearly if it works I will publish what we did and how we marketed it.

The Page Before The End

Sllllooooowwwwwwwwwllllyyy.  Made a little more frustrating by the seemingly 12 hour days.  Having said that we have attracted several new shops onto the site as well as a new Free Classifieds taking advantage and embeding their YouTube promo video.  Two of the shops are two totally unrelated Estate Agents from Cyprus.  One English owned from the North, and a Turkish owned one in the North.

I decided that rather than post a video I would share these two very light hearted links with you. First this one.  I love that.  Then this one.

Apparently good humoured but bored developers are responsible for these. 

I am at development meetings for much of the day,  so will not be getting as much done as I would like.  Its possible that there may be some development changes on our Free Classifieds depending on whether we implement a few minor improvements or go for one big one. 

We have so many plans for this free ads site and are looking forward to all exciting functions coming soon.

Light relief - at last!

Clearly NOT rocking into our natural Alexa rank.  Our Free Ad site is really climbing at an amazing rate now.  One of the SEO tools which I have neglected to mention is content update.  As a free classified this really relies on our users but news, forums etc can all be updated a little each day.   I have been a little more proactive with this lately.  On top of that we are getting more and more free ads placed around the clock.  So this all updates our content.

I have been unable to find enough funny articles on the web to blog about.  I have found some slightly amusing but  not actually clutching at your sides funny.  The funniest things published on the web are it seems on Youtube.  So instead of supplying funny banter.  I am publishing a link instead.  Cop out I know, The problem is I just don't have enough time on my hands.

I have spent another disproportionate amount of time trying to find an API code that we wish to implement as well as some funny stuff to blog.

2 hours on and I am frustratingly behind and have neither found the code or the funny stuff.  I challenge you to research the web and find something funny to blog about.  I am steering away from pictures and videos so this narrows my results some what.  I dont do corny, I love irony and I'm fascinated by the weird.  So surely that gives enough scope for something.

I have now given in to the challenge for fear of not getting anything done on the YapYapOK Free Classifieds site.  I was going to turn my attention to The World Cup, the Vervu somethings and the fumbled goal saving attempt by somebody Roberts.  As you ca tell I am not a footy fan and feel that a football blog by a non believer  may be a tad patronising.  Having said that I have not found any English fans believing this year.  Moral is at an all time low, never before have we felt so defeated before the game hae even begun.

I am not a football fan but I have on may occassions got drawn into the important games.  I actually watched the final of the world cup by myself at home, 12 years ago when all my friends were watching at the pub.  The one when England lost on penalties.  It was a devastating time and I was only able to watch from behind the sofa, such was the anxiety.  This is why I dont want to get into the game.  I know that it would cause more unnecessary stress than I can take. 

My husband is from Nottingham and has supported Forest forever.  He still romances about the days when they were unbeatable.  Sadly that time has gone and they have recently lost the play offs which would have seen them promoted.  I have no issue with this, except that now my son is an ardent Forest fan.  Its just one disappointment after another.  Still I guess that maybe these harsh disapointments may serve as some life lesson later on.

Blog - poor but done.  Now I need some more Free Classifieds anchor back links, a Free Ads  MySpace Blog, some content update but first I must find that API code!

Banter & SEO less

I am finding this new blog approach more time consuming than I expected, namely a nominal amount of Free Classified web marketing reports and alot of banter.

Its not as much fun browsing as I had expected.  Its time consuming and we all have very different ideas on what we think is funny.  It takes longer than I had anticipated, mainly because there is so much chaff out there and the wheat cannot be easily sorted.

I have spent a disproportionate amount of time looking on a website with anonymous confessions.  Some were funny but there was not enough material to use.  The problem was that no amount of browsing was going to get away from the fact that much of the content was unsuitable.  I could not there fore use the safe material and reference the site.  The confessions however are not just X rated, some are perverse and even illegal.  In particular the ones fessing up to beastiality and incest.

After this I went on 2 more sites which weren't worthy of a mention so I gave up.  Sadly I have far too much Free Ad keyword analysis to keep looking today.  I wll endeavour to do better but you may need to give me a little leeway.

Is this free classifieds rocking into its natural postion?  I am optimistic that we can still take it under 200k within the next week, give or take a day.
We have had only tiny movements in the last few days with one negative.  There could be many reasons for this including seasonal.  Our hit rate is a little down but the web "glue" is up.  We are getting more free ads on then ever before and are definitely getting more target market accuracy.  So we are more than happy with this compromise.

As promised a little lighthearted banter and less spam, coz boy did I make up for that on MySpace, no less than 17 anchor links - well its not as if anyone reads it!

Quantity Vs Quality

Today Ning ranks at 131 in the world.  Surely then this must be a great place for back links, after all links from well ranked sites are more important to lesser ranked sites. at least in the eyes of Google.  What has come of something as a surprise is that my Ning page is ranked badly, as in barely ranking at all at 27 million.    Therefore all the back links I have placed in Ning are probably close to worthless.  Certainly the blogs have been lacking in quality since I have been spamming it with Free Ad links since they announced they would be scrapping the free service.

Clearly if you are going to promote a blog or social page it is better to do so with a site which does not drop in ranking for your specific blog page.  MySpace for example ranks today at 22 in the world, as does my blog page within MySpace.  Every page within the YapYapOK Free Classifieds site is also ranked the same.

This is clearly to do with the construction of the website although I have no idea which part it relates to.  What surprises me is that if you are going to take the time to promote a blog then why do it on Ning at all, even whilst its free.

Yes it took me a long time to realise, I could have dedicated my time to serving better quality blogs rather than spamming free classified ones across the social media.  I am certain that Ning has strengths that I have not discovered.  Maybe as an MLM tool it has value.  My experience of users promoting MLM is that they dont like paying for it.  They prefer to spam email boxes and facebook sites and other such free networking sites, particularly Twitter.

The other topic I wanted to discuss was quality vs quantity blogging.  Clearly if you are promoting a blog then quality is obligatory, certainly if you want any kind of readership.  What about blogs promoting websites though?  Since I am using well ranked blog hosting sites I have no real need at present to push my blog.  Its already well ranked and I tend to do it for back links. I do not monitise my blog and my readership is low.

This spamming of backlinks for free classifieds has certainly helped my Alexa rankings.  As time goes on I will be looking to provide more thoughtful blogs with quality rather than quantity.

• Directory submission - for backlinks, you can do it yourself but its time consuming and theres only one of me.
  
• Tweet Adder - means I dont spend hours Tweeting as this does it for me
• Microsoft ad campaign.  Great, easy, and brings traffic
• Exoclick, nothing yet despite upping the budget broadening the campaign to include everything less adult content.  Forum reports are good so will hang on

Most of these I use every day.  Its important not to neglect the content of a site.  A content rich site which is updated regularly is more likely to rank well  and get more links further enhancing the site.

According to many forums & blogs it helps to get your site listed with DMOZ.  I have applied twice for a Free Classifieds evaluationand I am still waiting, it can take up to 5 months to get your site listed.  I have been waiting a little longer than that.  DMOZ is manually updated and is the largest human directory in the world, there fore it must be considered important.

Anyway off topic.  

I read this in Digg news.  A man fromn from Nebraska has died after being strangled by his 9ft pet boa constrictor.  A spokeman said that it does not matter if you have a dog, cat or snake, all animals can be dangerous.

I beg to differ.  I had a cat whose hunting began and ended with moths.  Ok not great for moths, but anyone with a modicum of sense knows that 9ft long Boas carry a bigger risk than say my mums pet lab.  I certainly would not allow my son in a room with a pet 9ft Boa.  I was fairly confortable leaving him with the Tortoises and the cat.

The issue with snakes, even ones that have been reared from young is that they do not develop a bonding relationship with their owners.  Ie they will bite the hand that feeds instinctively.  Younger snakes can be easier to handle and more placid.  There will always be exceptions to this but it is generally universally acknowledged that snakes require specialised handling.

Anyway I digress, as you can see by my list I have a lot of work to get on with and I had a late start.

Start Bleeting!

Our Free Classifieds had a small glitch and dropped a few hundred places in the global ranks.  I expect to see that changed today.

I had been looking to Bleet and Digg but have not as yet got round to it.  Stumble is an excellent way to get traffic.  The problem is that you need a few people Stumbling each others sites as you will get banned for spamming if you do your own.  The great thing about Bleet is you can send the Bleet message to Stumble bypassing your own login, so its anonymous.  I will start again with this later today.

One effective key free tools in web marketing is article submission.  Its also the one I have neglected the most.  I submitted one article introducing our Free Ads but I have not followed it up.  Since duplication across the article sites is prohibited I just cannot get round to either heavy editing or even rewriting.

You can actually buy a program which aides articles to be rewritten by giving alternative words and sentences.  I have found a company who will write articles for you for $5 each.  Hmm I can feel my lazy gene kicking in.

A brief reflection on yesterdays blog re the pressure of living up to mens expectations.  Apparently heterosexual men want a sexually inexperienced woman who loves sex, one with her own career but also to take care of the home.  She must also be slim, athletic with a firm butt, boobs a bonus but not mandatory, she should be pretty with dark hair.  And they call woman difficult!

A Mug Job

I found this on Digg whilst looking at an Itchy groin commercial to compliment our Free Classifieds blog page. I dissed that since it really was not that funny. I thought this video of an illustration on constructing mug handles very funny.

I have not worked out if this girl takes her job too seriously and therefore doesn't care or if she really is that naive. I cant believe that anyone with any kind of sexual exposure can be this innocent, her age indicates she must have some, so I vouch for the former.

Clearly there is nothing wrong with having a passion for what you do. I certainly have a passion for my job. I would have liked to see at least a glimmer of a smirk in recognition of how ridiculous this process is, worse videoing it. However if she wants to plug her ad on our Free Classifieds site then we have the perfect medium for her.

I now have the whole family on the look out for either topical, funny or absurd material on the web. Hopefully we will get better at looking for it and provide a little light hearted read for you every day.

We have now confortably under the quarter million mark globally. What is really causing great excitement is our Free Classified ranking in the UK ......14k.

I had a little mishap with Posturous yesterday which meant I had to look at all my blog sites and re request permission. i was shocked to see that my blog actually had some kind of readership. I think I must be appealing to the amateur social marketeer who sees snippets of useful info on progressing their site through the ranks. For this reason I will periodically reference the free web tools I have utilised.

I will also make reference to the paid systems that I have used, ie ad campaigns and Tweet Adder etc. Also which of these have been the easiest to implement and what results we have had in promoting our Free Classifieds.

My blogs have become spammy whilst I have tried to create as many backlinks possible from these well ranked blog sites. I will try to be a little more discreet in future although the point of my blogs is SEO and therefore Free Classifieds anchor links will be in each one. Perhaps it will be a valuable reference!

So today I vowed to "put myself out there" in the interest of hmm ... interest. I subscribe to Digg which is great fun and informative. I decided to do a little research & go through some of the latest news. The first one story I looked at I considered inappropriate, the second looked very funny. Basically a romance fail published on Youtube. The great sadness was that Youtube had removed the video as it violated terms of service. So today my efforts have been thwarted.

Since I had much of yesterday off I am a little behind. So I will restart my interesting blog attempts ...tomorrow.

As another point of reference, I subscribe to Digg as I have used it on many occassions as a marketing tool to promote our Free Classifieds. Its easy to use, its free marketing and its got a massive following, (Alexa Global 121 as I write).

Our Free Classified site has reached another milestone and achieved a global position of under a quarter of a million.

Many Free Classifieds were put on yesterday ranging from cars, books, films, and jewellery. Nearly all of these free classifieds were from the UK.

I am taking a little time out today, so this is a very quick progress report. Hopefully I will have some time to catch up a bit later.

Since it is Sunday I am going to afford myself a few hours relaxing.  I have lost count how many Free Classifieds blogs I have done this week.  Since I use several different blgging sites, I am doing several different Free Classifieds daily blogs so as not to get penalised for duplication but also to get in as many Free Classified anchor text links in as possible.

I have no idea if this is making any difference.  I do think that we are probably following Pareto with his 80 - 20 split.

If you think this is spammy - dont read my Ning blog.  Ning will soon be under utilised ( I am guessing) due to its decision to charge.  I don't network on Ning so shan't be continuing with it.  I aim to get at least 10 Free Classifieds anchor text links in every very short blog.  Not that this is going to be much less.... Sorry!

Interestingly our Cyprus rank is 118, no k just 118.  Our Free Classifieds rank after Facebook,  Google, the BT equivalent and then a few porn sites.  So we rank at 118 biggest sites in Cyprus with next to no traffic.  Hmmm something is seriously amiss.

This clearly shows how little business is done online in Cyprus.  Even if I take their population and times it by 60 to equal that of the UK, then times 118 by 60, we still would rank at 7000. 

We are about to surpass another milestone & hope to be under 250K (1/4 of a million ) by monday.  I have a huge amount of work to commit to over the next few days and I am feeling a little overwhelmed.  I know that a couple of good nights sleep and an orderly list will sort me out.  The pace is relentless.  I feel guilty if I have a day off so keep blogging day and night for some quality free classifieds back links.

Today is Saturday and I am prepping some food for a friends barbeque tomorrow.  I will post the starter I am doing on the recipe forum.  Its not barby food.  Its a loaded nachos with everything including a generous quantity of refried beans.  so check it out, but give me a week to post.

Google VS Bing

I now have 2 months Free Classifieds Bing ad campaign.  Its all gone without a hitch, has fetched in good traffic, was a doddle to do and good value.  Several days in and many hours more, my Google Ad campaign is far less successful.  I cant actually call it expensive as its barely touched my budget.

Google do have a good analyzer where you input the campaign name and voila, it tells you why you are not getting click throughs or what ever else.  For me apparently my location was set too small.

Hmm, I had expected the UK to be a reasonable size.  Its not as if we are a nation of technophiles.  Far from it.  The UK is one of the biggest internet users per capita than anywhere else in the world.

Its not even as if we have an obscure website.  Free Classifieds are amongst the most well ranked in  the UK.  There is a massive keyword range that also fits in, we have over 50 different variations of Free Classifieds including branded Free Ad sites.  It even tells you when one keyword is rarely searched for.  I have only one.

The good news is that I did not prepay for my campaign, rather pay as you go which costs the same per click but it is drawn from your payment system as and when.  There was however a $5 set up charge so I will stick with it a little longer to make it worthwhile.

My patience is running thin so I may end up showing more loyalty to Bing.  After all Bing is headache free!

Google Ads - Disa bloody proved!

I was not wrong about Google Ads. Within 24 hours of starting a Free Classifieds ad campaign our ad was disaproved It really takes very little to have your ad dissaproved, as I have found out once again.  I still suffer palpitations from my last experience with Google ads  They are less communicative than Microsoft and you find your self having to read all terms & conditions to see what minor policy you may have broken.  Surely it cannot take must to program a change of capitalisation to small case on your behalf.  Certainly Exactseek reprogram the title to be all caps in their ads, irrelevant of how it was written.

My Classifieds Ad did not have an obvious issue.  So I spent a disproportionate amount of time trying to find the reason for the ad ban.  I had used in the content FREE Ad and was therefore guilty of over capitalisation.  I have changed it and hope that this reactivates the ad campaign.

You are not informed that your ads have been removed, you have to find that out for yourself.  So lets see how far this campaign takes me.  My patience is not what it could be and after I have reveiwed my Bing campaign with every variety of FREE Classifieds I can find, I may find myself shifting over entirely.  Its easier, cheaper & much friendlier!
